Perhaps getting the "Checkmate" fever

New member
Greetings my name is Chris, and I might be a Checkmate owner soon Grew up on the Finger lakes in upstate NY near Syracuse, moved to North Carolina and recently found what a Checkmate as to what model I think it is a Trimate around 79 perhaps. A gentleman is asking 2500.00 but I have talked him down to 1500.00. I think you guys will like this he informs me that Checkmate builds hull for many company's as generic boats. I disagree I could be wrong but well I am not sure, anyway he has redone the interior as he says, my opinion it needs a overhaul, as far as the engine I am familiar with Mercury's but as far as the Force engine goes ? it is a 89 I think by looking up spec and model numbers and he says it has 200 hours on it. I will try to post some pics, but in everyone's opinion and I know it will cost at least 2000.00 to restore, also bad transom. Is it a Trimate and is 1500.00 to much to start with for this boat?

:welcome: great help for you on this site, when you get some pics up there will be many answers to all your questions. herpes lasts a lifetime but I am pretty sure we are born with checkmate fever

I got turned on to these boats years ago when a cousin of mine pulled up in a Pulsare. Boat just looked cool and went fast even when sitting still!

Ok I think I have got this right, Thank you for your responses to the community, I think the herpes thing I will have to pass on but I think I would rather have the "Checkmate Fever". And I am sure my girlfriend would agree. My girlfriend is in some of the pics,Please give me your opinions............ on the boat gentleman.

I also should mention that the boat is 16ft with a 125hp Force engine there is no hull number or model number on the boat the seller informes me that it is a Fish and ski that is all he knows After reading up on the Checkmate site I think it is a Trimate II.

nice project! make sure you find better seating for it otherwise you will never hear the end from here about the boat seats. :rof:
