Picked up a 79 Predictor and a 2.4 Bridgeport

Great East Predictor

Active member
Hello I'm fairly new to this site...I've been reading and getting some good info for the past month or so. I finally picked up my new toy thursday night. Its a 79 predictor in pretty decent shape but does need some work. Got some motor swapping, transom work, wiring, etc....but I'm pretty excited to do it. It had a 71 merc 135 on it, but I'm swapping it for an 89 2.4 bridgeport...I think this should get up and go. :) I've attached a couple pics...the new motor is on the back just to see how it will look, I have a some transom work to do before it is mounted...and I have a hydraulic jack plate to mount it to.

I think the BP is 245 hp:confused:

Yup, its an efi so I believe its 245...but its also got the offshore midsection so I think that picks me up a couple ponies to. Not sure of the weight...
Great site you guys got here, really got some good info before I picked this thing up.
Hey Boston, where are you out of? I lived on the northshore(ipswich) for years, just moved last october...

Holy crap, hold on to anything you can. If a Predictor with a stock 200 is pushing 82 and still has rpm's to spare I can't imagine what another 50 ponies is going to do.

Hey GEP, Im from Marblehead, MA. My favorite areas to boat are, Salem sound/Danvers river, Nahant, Swampscott, Anasquam, Glouster, Ipswich, Manchester etc....check out some of my pics and you might recognise some of the beaches.
BTW you beat me to being the first person on the board with that combo. Predictor/Bridgeport. I was trying like a mad man to get that exact motor.
There is alot of speculation on the predictor's ability to handel that kinda speed/power and I for one was dying to hit an honest 90mph. Keep us posted, we all want to know what this boat can do:cheers

PS I think the bridgeport weighs as much as a stock 2.4 although I could be wrong...
I also had a simmilar 135 tower of power but mine was a 69'

Marblehead...home of maddy's, I've crawled out of there a few times. :cheers
Yup, I know all the spots you mentioned...cool.

Sorry if I stole your thunder...

I know the motor is a little overkill, but I was looking around and I got a deal I just couldn't pass up, so....

I'll definately keep you all updated, it is a work in progress...hoping to get it in the water in a month or so, but there is alot of work to be done. I'll try to update status/pics weekly or so.

That thing is going to be scary. Boston a friend of mine found a 94 2.4 efi with a alien cowl, alternator setup, bobs lower unit ,and controls on Ebay for $2400 in con. he is rigging it on his 76 vector.
