PowerJack???

Yes it would. You are going to love being able to adjust the set up on the fly, down for pulling, up for going fast.
Make sure you install a water pressure gage.

There should be a mounting tab by the head for the temp sensor. The water pressure gage will get a T fitting and be installed in the pee tube. Not real sure on the I6. I know its been done, I don't this my manual goes back that far, but I will look.

sweet thanks and does anyone know if my i six will fit on it the plate is 17 in wide i don't know the measurement of my i6 140 since i don't have access to it.

well I bought it fedex tried to deliever it today but nobody was home so I have to WAIT!!!!!:mad::mad: I want it now!!!:brickwall: I will update you guys on it when I receive with some pics and what I think of how well it is built.

Sorry I just saw this post. You may want to look at my link below. There is a drawing there of the old vs new pattern. Make sure you scroll down to see all of the page numbers to select. If your inline 6 is the old bolt pattern like mine, and your boat is already drilled for it, the jackplate won't fit either one. I can't remember which year Mercury went to the newer bolt pattern, but I don't think they ever made a 140 with the new bracket. The old pattern used the outboard mounted trim/tilt cylinders that have seperate brackets. If your trim/tilt is built into the bracket under the motor you'll be OK.

Despite that, you may be able to make it work. It will depend on how wide the mounting flanges are on the jackplate. Mine were not wide enough to work without some additional support. I used a 1/2" aluminum plate on the back to mount my motor, but my boat was the same pattern as the jackplate. Your situation would be a little tougher on the hull side.

As for the water pressure gauge, you can tee it off of the pee hole fitting. You can also move the pee hole to the top of the motor and hook the gauge to the old pee hole fitting. This insures that you don't have any air pockets at the top of the block as these motors were prone to doing. The problem is that to do that install requires drilling and tapping the water passage at the top of the block.

You should check out the inline 6 newsgroup. There are lots of inline experts around there including some old racers.

You can't get there via the internet. You have to use an email program like Outlook or Outlook Express. It's actually a pain, but that's where they are.

Open Outlook or Outlook Express, go to Tools, Accounts, Add Newsgroup - Server and Newsgroup as listed above. I'm writing all of this off the top of my head, so that info could be a off by one step or something, but you should be able to find it with that.
