Price on 94 175 efi mariner

jgreen...
The '94 175efi is a good motor and if it's REAL CLEAN and compression tests 120psi+ on all 6, figure in the $3000-$3500ish range...again, depending on it being in excellent condition.

ALSO...KEEP your prop, selling a motor with a prop doesn't get you any more money and you can ALWAYS use it on something else!!! Jim.

WOOPS... sorry, this posting should be in PARTS section

JW & others... price on NADA can be way off!

I absolutely HATE using NADA values... They're just TOO RANDOM (no choices for condition, hours, freshwater, etc.). NADA values seems like they assume 100 hours running time per year and saltwater use! Values are usually WAY off what our northern motors bring (that are only FRESHWATER used 5 MONTHS out of a year MAX).

If I could BUY motors like jgreens for $2200-$2500 that are "Northern-Part-Time used", and very clean... I cound sell them for $3200-$3500 all day long! So...NADA (at least for SE Michigan area) is way low!

That's why NADA has this caveat:

Value Explanations
Low Retail Value — A low retail valued outboard engine will show wear and/or defects. It may have been stored outside in the elements, been neglected and require cosmetic and/or mechanical work. This classification of engine is not in running order or is in rough running condition. Low retail engines usually are not found on a dealer's lot.

Average Retail Value — An average retail valued outboard engine should be in good condition with no visible damage or defects. This category of engine should be in sound running order. The buyer might need to invest in either minor cosmetic or mechanical work.

Note: Outboard Motors in exceptional condition can be worth a significantly higher value than the Average Retail Price shown.

So basically, NADA is the only 'published' guide to start your estimating with. Like when I sold my Promax/Pulsare last year. NADA said it was worth $14,000 retail and I sold it for $16,000. I had a mint condition package that is highly desireable.
