Prop Advice = Stainless High Five? / 1st mate

Hi CM forum - I have an 89' Evinrude 175XP V6 2 stroke on a 186 pulse - just bought the boat and want to know what prop to go with - I heard a stainless high-five will produce the best top end speed as I"m not concerned with hole shot as much as overall top speed and fuel efficiency.

What pitch, rake, diameter size etc - so many variables = please help!!!!!!

thanks, love this site and will post some pics when i figure out how hehehe.

the hi-five will give you the opposite of what youre looking for, great holeshot, and the least top end, though not sure how they do for efficiency. Not sure what the best props are running on the pulses, but someone with more knowledge on that hull will here shortly im sure

yup the high five is a great ski prop, great hole shot, and hard on fuel, total opposite of what you want, in a OMC prop a Raker 3 blade would work good on your boat, probably a 22 or 24 p, without testing its hard to know for sure, a trophy plus 4 blade would work good too.

Welcome to the forum.

First thing is check your cables and make sure they are free turning both left and right. Second is more info on current setup... prop, jackplate.

You should look at a Tempest Plus 23" maybe a 25" and get the motor up to 3" below the pad from the output shaft centerline. These props come with PVS holes and you can modify the aeration that the exhaust produces to help holeshot.

I agree with what the other guys said. So if you've got a spare high 5 lying around feel free to send it to me for disposal.
Again the real question is what's it doing now rpm-wise with what kind of prop?
