Prop for a 25' Convincor

the sMac

Member
I tried to get some info on another thread, but I have been stiking out.

I would like to know a good prop for my 25 foot convincor. It's a 84, 253 (I think) and has a L29 7.5l 454 MPI. TRS drive with a Borg - Warner transmission at 1.36:1 ratio.

I mainly want a decent hole-shot and great mid-speed cruising. I don't do high-speed runs often, but top speed is a little important.

I am debating over a 3 blade Mirage Plus or a 4 Bladed Revolution or Bravo One.

Thoughts, comments and opinions?? I really wanted to get one for this weekend.

Thanks in advance,

The bravo 1 props work great less slippage than a three blade. a 22 pitch should work good with your set up.

Thanks mkhammer,

I talked to a number of prop people yesterday and most think a 22" Bravo One is too much to spin for me.

I am pretty set on a 21" Revolution 4.

I hope this works. anyone use that prop???

I don,t know what size prop your running now you say your turning it 4600 rpm and its a cleaver. The bravo1 is a better prop in my opinion its made for heavier boats and its not sold as a 21. you said you have a newer 454 mpi 385 hp so you should be able to turn it 4600 or more w/better hole shot and cruise speed. I would ask the guys that have your setup and gear ratio remember a stock 7.4 carb is 300 hp. and less torque. With 20 years boating experiance and I did the math and came up with a 22. Not all running bottoms engines and drives are created equal and to find the right prop you have to have a starting point(present prop) and you may go through some testing or find a prop that is close and have it reworked.
all you can do is get advice and use your best judgement

Call Hydromotive. they deal alot with checkmates and can answer just about any question you can throw at them. They will answer all questions, not just ones about there props. Super knowledgable. Hydromotive.com

Hydromotive did recommend a Revolution 4, 21" - as did a few others.

Maybe I something wrong with my boat since I can't seem to get the speed up? I'm turning that new prop at 4500 RPM, but only going about 51mph. The max RPM is 4600, but Derebery says I can push it to 4800 and he'll still warranty it. But after the warranty, it's my risk... so I want to keep it at 4600-4700

This is driving me insane.
