Prop Primer

Really just a primer on the Mercury Vengance prop. I'm in search of the "right" prop for my boat and just wanting to learn about different models. What can you guys tell me about the Vengance prop? What other props is it comparable to? Is it just a run of the mill, middle of the road, general pourpose prop, or does it some what lean towards the performance end of the spectrum. Does it work well at elevated engine heights? Does it have good bow lifting ability? Is it another "boo-boo" prop like the LaserII?

I'm really getting anxious to find a prop for my boat and am trying not to settle on the wrong one. I can't afford to own several props so I'm just trying to do my homework.

The Vengence is not a good choice for an outboard in my opinion. The only time I ran one, it made the back of the boat very lose, had to use lots of trim to get the bow up, and was not very fast compared to the Laser. They are more of a stern drive prop. boatman

Thanks Boat. Sounds like the Stiletto I ran. Lots of trim and lots of white knuckles. I was kind of thinking that would be the deal.
