Prop suggestions - '79 Eluder w/ 1990 Johnson 200

groundloop

OK, just bought a motor off ebay ('90 Johnson 200 - and I don't even know the gear ratio yet), now it's time to start looking for a prop. Realistically it's going to be 2 or 3 months before my boat goes in the water, so I want to be ready if a deal comes along for a prop which will be a good match.

Boat's a '79 Eluder, which as other's here have pointed out is basically the same as an Exciter but with an oben bow. (I don't believe an Eluder will be quite as fast as an Exciter because of extra drag from the open bow.) And my boat will have a 6 inch manual jackplate.

I'm not looking to get every last mph out of this boat so much as a good all around prop with no bad habits. I'll use her for everything from pulling skiers, tubes, and knee boards to cruising to fishing (yes I said fishing), to occasionally seeing if I can leave a bass boat or baja in my wake. (Throwing a nice rooster tail gets bonus points.)

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. If I need to have two props that's ok too.

I've got your prop. It is a 25" Renegade 4 blade. Great holeshot, handling and low steering torque. Still will be within 1 or 2 MPH of the fastest prop on that rig. They are basically the OMC version of the Trophy. I ran it on my Starliner with a 200 and loved it. Ask around and you will see it is the go to prop for that motor. I will sell it cheap for $150 plus shipping. I have a guy looking at the motor tomorrow and if he doesn't want the prop for that price I will sell it to you.

I agree with Mark, had the same prop on my Javelin bass boat w/ 225 Johnson Venom. I started out with a raker prop, but ended up with the renegade great all around prop.

So, the guy took the prop along with the motor. I probably sold it too cheap. I still think it is the prop for your rig. Good luck.

I found a few on ebay that I think are the same. Is it called the Renegade Bass prop? I'm seeing some which are listed as 13-1/4 diameter, and others 13-3/4, I can't imagine such a small difference in diameter will make a bit of difference.

Yup. Renegade Bass is what you want. They are all 13 3/4" diameter. The seller doesn't know what is talking about which is usually the case on Ebay. The Offshore is a different animal altogether.

$150 was probably about right, I just bought one on ebay for $130 (but the seller had listed some wrong information so maybe that deterred any other buyers). Hopefully it's condition is as good as claimed, then I'll see how it does on my boat in a couple more months. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion on the prop.
