Propshaft dimension in relationship to pad

Has anyone with a Pulsare tried jacking higher than 1 1/4"- 1 1/2" below pad ? Wondering what kind of results have been gained or lost by going higher. I'm currently at my limit for height(jackplate all up and bracket is in the highest position) I have the dual water pickup. I have 13 1/2" of setback and have great water pressure at WOT. I was just wondering if I stand to gain any more performance by going higher. I know I can order a custom setback bracket from Hydrodynamics with as much lift as I want.

Anyone with a similar setup running higher ?

i was at the same point as you. i just remounted my motor 2.5 inches higher yesterday. i will find out this weekend what it was worth for me...... 225 promax 15.5 inches back.

How did you remount higher ? Did you have the extra adjustment or did you change something ? I'm limited out to the top right now. My next step would be a different setback bracket with some lift incorporated in it. I'll be curious to hear your results. I know there's got to be a point of "no return" I'm just not sure if I'm there yet ?!

Bluehealer and I are planning to run for a few hours Sat. He's got some breakin to do and I'm going to taunt him !!!:poke:

Hotbeek, you listed two that are at the highest and there's one more that KCT was pointing out. You may already be there, but here's the three:

Jack plate mounted all the way up on the transom
Jack plate mechanism raised to it's highest setting
Motor mounted at it's highest on the jack plate

What KCT did yesterday was unbolt the motor and re-mount it using the lowest set of holes on the motor swivel bracket.

yup, i got 2 jack plates and my motor had 4 more holes i could go up. i went up 1 1/4 on the jack plate and 2 holes on the motor...........i will let you know if i notice any gains............just got off the phone with the post office and my new prop is there so:banana::banana::banana:

..i just got delivry of my new 09 pulsare 2100 LD today..The motor will be here on moday..I have 10 in.set back..the motor is a 08 250 xs..TM W/1.62 and spinning A trophy plus 25 p..
If the motor is installed w/jack plate all the way up and the motor all the way aswell, will it be about 1 1/2 below pad,and is that the sweet spot for performance ???
I got to let the dealer how i want it set up..They are not to familiar w/high perf.boats..
Your input would be appriciated..THanx

I have an 8" setback bracket mounted on transom so I have no more room to go higher there. I could get a custom bracket made with lift incorporated into the bracket.

Everything else is max'd out for height. That's why I was wondering if it paid to go any higher ?!

if you have a hydro jack plate, make it so you can go high enough to slip the prop. i really like the change i made. my new prop has a little too much bite and i could jack some rpm into it. at the last setting, i would have never been able to do that. it was around 1.5 below the pad max ht. before. i will have to get more time on it and do some measuring to find out where that point was for me, but i know it will be different for every boat. i would say go for it so you can try it at higher setting to find out what you need. btw, my gps must have lost signal, it quit working on the water so i only have seat of the pants data which is worth crap.

btw, my max ht. is now 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 above the pad. the last time out i mostly ran it not quite all the way up, i would guess about even with the pad. i like it! i made several passes all the way up to make some killer rooster tails, and hear the mota talk. that far up, it is almost like having a off shore mid....... gotta whach out as is is easy to over rev with the lack of bite. i do have a sportsmaster lower, so i am ok with the water pressure.
