Pulsare driver wants out of the wind

Love Checkmates - BUT - they all sit to high. First thing I did with Pulsare is cut down pedastel hight 4" inches. Too me, still too high. Planning on cutting down the remainder 3" inches.

Anybody out there done anything like this? How about the positive effects of lowering the CG - should help eliminate chine walk.

Here is my thought and from experience. If you lower the seat or raise the windshield. You will be like the rest of the clowns sitting on top of their seat so you can see at low speeds. Checkmates design in boats is awesome you can see at low and high speeds sitting in the seat. If you block all the wind from your face in the summer you will cook like a lobster.

after loosing a $500. pair of glasses blown away,i did cut my pedestal by 2 inches (folowed jupiter advise).now i just duck a bit and it works fine..but as far as CG, not sure if it would help on chine walk..lets hear from the experts...HELP !!!

6'6" and driving a starflite for 13 yrs and loving it,wouldn't have it any other way.I don't think it would be safe to alter the factory height, plus having a bow rider would only complicate it further. But its yours!!!!!!!

P.S.I've never lost a pair of glasses that I rememered to put on a stringing thing on.

Lowering seats

I have a 2007 bow rider. I cut the seats 4" and moved them back 7". No problem seeing over the bow. These boats fire on plane. Now I am sitting in the boat, not on the boat. I have a 225HO on a 6" jack plate with a Powertech 25" TRO4 prop. It gets right up on plane with 3 -200 lb adults and runs over 60 mph. This is at Big Bear Lake which is 6750 ft in elevation. These boats are awesome. Skip

Just this evening, I had to take off my sunglasses to see as the sun was setting. My eyes were getting blasted and I got "back" on the kick of wanting to chop my glassed in seat boxes. I feel like "lurch" behind the wheel and I'm 6'2" tall. I will chop an inch or two off of my seat base/boxes very soon.

Ive lowered some seats before (In some Glastrons and a few others ) but I also took off the windshields because I like the wind in my face and the salt water messes up the glass so bad you cant see through anyways. My Sutphen is so low it feels like Im driving a go-kart! Fun as heck. Any checkmate Ive been in had horrible bow rise but then again I havent been in any of the new ones.

I cut the seats down about 4" on every new Pulsare I sell. I usually ask the new owners how low they want to go first though. The 2008's I've recently gotten, already have the pedestals cut down.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one cutting down the pedestals. It is the same reason I went with the high windshield Starliner. The drivers seat has a height adjust and on a slow cruise I will raise it right up so I can see over the windshield.

Did I just read this correct? While I agree that I like some wind in my face... you can't "blow away" UV-A/B rays LOL wind does not blow away sunburn ahhaha

On every starflight or pulsare I have owned, I have cut the pedestals all the way down so they are just about on the floor. I can still see over the shield if I want or look thru it, either way. Only have to lift your head just a tad to see over it....and the wind is still out of your face.

You alomst have to cut them down in order to run a foot throttle......which you NEED when running high speeds.

Hell Yeah son! What do I need two hands on the wheel for? Im not letting go and I have a better feel for correcting mistakes with one hand, as well as faster reactions. A foot throttle is a novelty IMO but Ill probably end up getting one for my Rallysport just for the heck of it.

After running both the standard throttle and foot throttle, I'll stick with the with the one armed bandit any day!! I find I have more control with my arm throught the rough water that with my foot....not to mention your calf muscles get pretty sore after a day on the boat. No more foot throttles for me!!

I agree, my bass boat has a footer and I just could not get comfie. I have always gone one armed and always will.

I'll ammending my statement,If I'm remembering right the pedestols on newer pulsares are taller and look somewhat goofy. And besides less height creates less of a stress at the base mount in the yrs to come.

I like two hands on the wheel because thats where my trim is.

And in 10yrs I've never hit a wake causing me to floor it.Its almost impossible, your foot is traveling in the same direction and is on plane as throttle. The boat jumps up so does every thing else. Its kinda like thinking u can save yourself from a plane crash by waiting to the last second and jumping out.It just does work that way.

And its kinda kool when your leaving from somewhere waving bye to your buds and mashing down the throttle and jumping on plane and hauling A$$ while still waving bye.

Boy, I guess I'm the WEIRDO here!! I love to be in the Breeze and I wouldn't do with out my foot throttle.

Guys, marine foot throttles have a return spring. Even in bad chop, it is easy to keep it in a steady position. There is no way I could drive my last Pulsare with one hand at 90+ mph, and fight the chinewalk and steering torque. That’s just me though.
