R U looking 4 a Starflite

Hello, this is my first post, had some info to share. Not sure if anyone is looking for a Starflite project but if you are I might have a line on one. I tend to peruse a web site from the Government of Canada where they auction off surplus items, items forfeited to the crown, etc. Today they posted a Starflite with a 150 Merc. The site is a closed bid auction where you do not see what others bid so you need to put a bid in and hope for the best. The only restriction is a minimum bid of $4000. Here is a link that should take you to the web-site:
https://www.gcsurplus.ca/mn-eng.cfm...type=&so=ASC&sf=ferm-clos&lci=&str=126&ltnf=1

Would love to put a bid on it myself but have a feeling that I would need to sleep in it if I brought it home.

Did not click link, might be wrong but I smell scam.

Sorry that you think that I am trying to do some sort of a scam. The link will simply take you to a gov't of Canada web site. So much for this being a friendly forum where people with similar interests can share.

This is a freindly site once you have gotten past looking like a scam seller!
You said it was your first post but really your 2nd, just a little mistake I'm sure.
Hang around and chit chat more. You'll have more creditability:thumb:

Paranoid much ? :poke:

boat looks kinda tired, would make for a good project if it was a starliner, nothing a chainsaw can't fix I guess ;)

Welcome, let's see your rig!

Sorry, wasn't trying to offend you. With the amount of internet scams going on these days when someone comes around that says high I'm new here click this link for a great deal, it looks a lot like a scam.

Another new Member that should have gotten permission/direction from the "cool" guys around here before posting...:shakehead:

Easy HD, when I see something that looks suspect I call it as I see it. I didn't mean to offend him, I did, I was wrong it happens. If it still bothers you feel free to shoot this "cool" guy a message so we can keep his thread clean.

Personally, what I was hmpphing about was that this is an auction for an uninspectable boat that in the pictures looks a little skanky, is arguably underpowered and you're not even allowed to place a bid unless you start at what I consider to be an unreasonably high price.
I was commenting on the boat, not the posting.

However, if truth be told when a new person jumps into the forum and their first interactions involve commerce or meeting with people in person (remember Wicked Wendy?) it does tend to raise suspicions.

Which is to say, fluffymoosedad (by the way, I'd love to know what that means), Stick Around and hang. There's all kinds of good stuff on this site, we have a lot of fun around here, everybody brings another element into the stew and we certainly did not mean to offend you.

Hey guys, go easy on the fluffy moose, that is the Government of Canada website. They have no idea what the boat is worth and pulled a rabbit out of the hat for a minimum price. The Boston Whaler with the 90 merc at $750 looks like a better bet.

I can tell you that anything that our government is involved in is likely a scam of sorts... and somehow involves charging us taxes.

YOUR government? I thought you were talking about OUR government.
Although either country is a whole heck of a lot better than at least 90% of the other places out there.

HAHA... the best way to describe the difference is this. Our government steals from the middle class and gives to the poor (socialism), your government steals form the middle class and gives to the rich (capitalism). That is far more true than we are willing to admit.

Although my favorite description is this; "A Canadian is just an unarmed American with health care."

That's great. 2 excellent points and I've never heard them before. Maybe you guys are familiar with those quips (unless you actually created them in which case cudos to you) but that was a 1st for me.

I can take credit for the first one, but the second one is a well known Canadian joke. Credited to John Wing. His other one is; "The Canadian military is like Switzerland's. Without the knife."
We are renowned for our comedians and have no trouble making fun of ourselves... eh!

Too busy out on my Checkmate to have a PM session...

Thanks for the offer. :bigthumb:

Enjoy your Holiday W/E.

Would love to be out on my Checkmate but the jackazz who owns it on paper took it out of town.:brickwall: One day I'll get my own boat, maybe even a check.

wow easy on the new guys, I personally did not see any sign of a scam, $4000 for alot of work, way to over priced for the starting bid, if you want you can buy my Starflite for $8000 looking at other prodjects but not one for that price.

"Remember Wicked Wendy" I cant help but ask Who was Wicked Wendy. Sounds like there might be a story in there somewhere... Did she have red(Ginger) hair, I wonder...
