Real or Fake Raker Propeller

So I bought a 22p 14.5" Raker on Ebay, for what seemed a good price. Less than 200 bucks. I'm sitting here looking at it and wondering if there are fake versions of these out there? It has a correct BRP/OMC Part number cast in the hub, correct letter size etc... It doesn't have the 'M' logo in the same area on the hub. I would think any genuine BRP/OMC part would have this, as many others on Ebay and else where have?

It also lacks any RAKER markings on the outside of the hub. I could see polishing away the laser etched logo, but this appears to be the older style which should have stamped small letters.

Its from an OMC certified marina which gives me some faith, but before I install this I wanted your opinions. I've contacted the marina and we'll see what they say. I don't want some crap Chinese knock off on my boat. It sure looks like other Raker's I have seen, but I hate it when things are not where they should be.

Raker props

You are correct, the older Rakers have "raker" stamped on the barrel. The newer "Raker2" has this embossed on the barrel, I don't think there are any made without it. I would be interested to hear what the dealer says. I think you have bought a copy, but I could be wrong. It may be a good prop, even if it is a copy though.Rakers tend to have more pitch than stamped in the end and run hard.

Im gonna look at what ive got, I have two just sittin around. i will check them for any markings. i think i have one with no markings at all too!

So the reply is that it came from Evinrude, and that they are an official Evinrude dealer. They claim only certain Raker's were stamped and that Evinrude uses outside prop manufacturers to make the props. Because of this some props, pre Raker 2's are missing the stamping. Ruger and Solas were listed as OEM manufacturers for OMC/BRP products. The box it came in is an official BRP box, with a serial number and manufacturers inspection date. This means jack, but at least it would make my case look better.

Seems a bit strange to me. I might give BRP a call and ask them directly. I wonder if because I bought it from an official dealer, and have a true invoice that says nothing about Ebay, its covered by a warranty? If it is a fake/knock off I doubt BRP would do anything, but its worth a shot at getting a real one direct from them.

A final note from BRP technical service directly. After the tech did a little research for me, not all older Raker's were stamped. I explained the marking that were on the prop and he confirmed that it should be a true part. I guess only after they changed the design and actually cast the RAKER label on the barrel did all have the markings.
