"Love the V Mate! http://www3.sympatico.ca/ridernj250/
This one was crashed, trashed, left in a swamp, and used as a planter before I got it. Merc 1150 with a cupped 13 X 25 chopper ran 62+ MPH(GPS) this weekend at 5900 RPM. Cold water and air in the spring/fall ups to 6200 RPM. Planned mods are Merc 140 "tower of power" top end and carbs, 29" pitch prop, and wheel paddle trim control.
...So would a 150 XR be crazy? Anyone tried it?

I'm in southern Ontario and I've seen maybe 3 V Mate 1's for sale in the last month alone. One just yesterday on a trailer at the side of the road. It was a project boat.
The V Mate 1's were very popular here, copied in style and type by Kennedy and Panther in the late 70's and 80's. All the copycats have gone to boat heaven but there are still 3 V Mate 1's on Go Home Lake, none for sale. Mine gets out of the water and shakes it's tail. The others are 75 and 90 HP and used as zippy runabouts and skiing. If I see the roadside boat again, do you want the #?

The interior has been kept ultralight intentionally. Although seeing what some of you others have done, I may need go back to work on it.
