Plan on the first weekend in August for the 3rd Saginaw River Checkmate get together. We have had lots of fun in the past and hope to have more in the future. We have had a pretty good turn out the past 2 years. I look forward to seeing you out there and meeting new people.

keep it in the back of your mind, there are a few members on here coming up this way this summer......would be cool to have some of you guys from southern michigan show up:bigthumb:

Im planning on being there again this year . I also plan on coming out on the river a few times this year too . Had alot of fun last year

Count me in.

Hey Ross, I may try and make it up that way this summer. I have some new cousins up there.

We're putting the camper in Honcho campground for the summer. 1.5 miles from the Elk River or Traverse bay launch - about 15min from the torch lake sandbar launch. We plan to be up just about every nice weekend after school's out for the kids.

I am going to try to remove the powerhead on the inline to send to wayne for a rebuild then I will do the CORRECT breakin process on it this time around since I was never informed the last few times.

Thats exactly why I hit the river every weekend, nice flat water and its 10 minutes from my front door.

sooooo you want us to haul up there, but you dont wanna haul down here???

trust me, i would bring my boat down and run with all of you guys but, just not on the river......sorry again but when the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world is in your back yard i just cant see it. google torch lake, OR elk lake michigan and MAYBE the river get together will change to the "torch lake" get together in the future.......most likely not, but we will see:cheers: oh and there are some vids on youtube of the torch lake sandbar if you wana look:thumb: and for the bigger boats, there are a few poker runs on torch, let alone the runs on the bays here in my home town(traverse city) enough of my rant! gotta get to thinking about heading to the sagnasty:lol:

Well, here we go again.....Maybe Ross, you should start a thread about Torch Lake. This is a thread about people getting together on the Saginaw River, as stated in the title. Can we try to keep it that way?

so fill me in as to where you guys would normally put in at, and where you head to? how far do you guys run? resturants? sand bars? i'd like to check it out online. also i assume it's a 2 day event(sat, sun)?

We normally put in at the city launch near M-46. Head north to Bay City, there are several miles of open flat water. In Bay City there is a Hooters and another bar across the river. If one chooses they can continue out to the Saginaw Bay, some days the bay can be a bit much for smaller boats. There is a sand bar "Boaters Beach" that fills up with boats on the weekends. It is no where near as nice as Torch Lake, like comparing a mud puddle to a swimming pool.

Havent seen much activity on this post in a while, wondering if this was still on for this year?
I would like to go.

thats the weekend after we get home from the rally in kentucky.....let me see what i can do for work:sssh: still not a fan of the water down there but would like to meet all of you guys:thumb: maybe we/I can get a ride?
