Well its time to put the boats away.. This is my new christmas present, My new motor showed up yesterday and rigged it today..I know this is not a checkmate but i love my viper.. I bought this last spring and it was never in the water let alone transom was never drilled for a motor. warehoused since 1986 i feel this is the best example of a hydrostream known.. Happy Holidays to all:banana:

Very nice, What size is the boat. I am not familiar with hydrostreams.
I am looking at buying an old hydrostream, I think it is like a 16 or 17 footer.

The Viper is a 15' boat.. Very fun boat, great hull design..Nothing like driving on the pad. What model are you looking at??? a Vector is 17' long..

The 1st engine in used was a inline 6 115 and i would run about 70 mph.. if the weather stays warm like they say the next couple of weeks i might try my new motor out..

VERY nice boat you've got there! Keep the water out of the interior, off the floor, and away from the seat bases, and it'll be nice for a long time. Wish I could find one like that! Wait, I did! Wrote an article for Scream and Fly too. I drove to New York, met Greg Terzian at the boat dealer, and picked up my new/old stock XStream Valero.

You did me one better though, you put a motor on yours!! :bigthumb:

Thank you, So you found a new one also i see.. Do you still have it?? I always had a thing for Hydrostreams.. any pictures of your??

I got the boat rigged with white Gaffrig gauges, red bezels, CMC jack plate, and steering but then I sold it before I put a motor on it. Too much cash wrapped up into it for my taste. It's basically the sister ship to Greg's (Scream and Fly) X-Stream V-King. Mine was the Valero version, which isn't as good looking but had a wider back seat.

Hey JW....

Was that Virage sold to alaskastreamin'...???

I can't believe that hydrostream isn't repopping the VIRAGE yet...

It was a KILLER hull design... a friend had a Virage Turbo with a 2.4L Bridgeport!!! YES... it was F-A-S-T he too kicks himself every season for selling it. I wonder were the molds went???

Viper115... nice boat... think of it as a 17' Vector with 2' of the bow point clipped off! When I had the old Checkmate V-mate-1 with a 140 Merc I-6, I used to loose to a 15 Viper with a 140. It was at that point I sold the 'mate and went to a Hydrostream 17 Vector with a Merc 200 (wearing 150 stickers of course)! Needless to say, I then had the fastest boat in my area!!! A few seasons later, I had land-n-sea build the powerhead (dyno'd 250+hp), and added a CLE lower... it was SCARY FAST!!!

Thank you... Went out today on the river 52 degrees boy this weather is great... Dec 21 boating. i should be getting ready for sledding..

Yep, sold my Virage to Ron Pratt/Alaska Streamin. Mine was the earlier Turbo model, so the rear step wasn't as long or deep as the '91-92 model, but it was a cool boat.............

that hydro looks like a lot of fun. i had a lot of good times on a simiular boat years ago. im sure you'll enjoy.:surf::cheers
