senior project predictor.. test boat?

i have a checkmate predictor that i restored for my senior project in high school last spring. my dad bought this boat new from the checkmate factory in 1988 and then sold it a year later. the boat was vined as an 87 but my dad believes this was the prototype boat for when they restyled the deck of the predictor because it was battleship grey and it was already drilled for a motor when he bought it from the factory. i found it abandoned 3 years ago and bought it for 500$ and the 115 Suzuki that was on it ran.. well for a few days, then it threw a rod through the case. for the project i had the seats redone and completely redid the floor. i also added some fiberglass and a 1/4 inch plate on the transom. I had it rigged with a 150 merc and i finally got it in the water a few weeks ago.
if any one knows the history about this boat at the checkmate factory please let me kno.. thanks, glenn

next summer it will have dual steering a jackplate a low water pic up, and prally a hot foot/ hand trim cause it gets un drivable over 70 lol. im just happy to have it finally done and in the lake though

Yeah the jackplate will make the boat handle a lot better. I noticed a big diff when I installled mine. How much setback is it? Also how are you getting your speed #'s? GPS or Speedo?

its the land and sea power jackplate.. i think its lk 4 inches, i dont know if its going to want to wheelie even more than it does, but i installed transom wedges so i can tuck the trim pretty far back if i need to. the speed was off a medalion speedo, so i dunno how acurate it is, but i heard those speedos were pretty good

thanks, im from auburn.. what part ar u from? my dad had a 83 2.4 225 on this boat before with out a low water pick up. i guess it went from 20 to blow out as fast as you could trim it.. any pics of that other one w/ the bridgeport?

Here is a pic, its a bridgeport with a 2.5 cover on it...I actually bought my boat from a guy in auburn last feb. Is that a bridgeport on yours or a 150? Nice lookin boat! :)

thats sick, yea its just a 150 but i always have liked the lightweight covers and they keep you guessing lol.. has anyone ever put a legit 2.5 on one of these.. i kno it would be pretty pointless cause u couldnt use it, but no one did it just do it?

and did that boat ever run over 95 with the bridgeport?

goin back that u said that u bought that in auburn, i looked at that boat lk a year and a half ago.. that was in real good shape.. that setback doesnt mess up the handling at all?.. it has to be a wild ride

I'm From Marblehead on the northshore. Good to have some locals on the board.
Nobody here has put a 2.5 on a predictor yet. I dont think it would be unreasonable, GEP's predictor runs smooth and steady at 80+. Ive got a monster 3.6l V8 I was planning on riggin to the back of my old predictor, but it ended up being more of a hassle than it was worth. That would have been something though.
