Severe Porpoising

It was present with the stock powerplant but could manage it with tucking the outdrive under but with the new power which is about 200 hp more than stock i cant seem to control the porpoising unless i'm 3/4 or more on the stick. Has anyone had this issue and how did they manage it.

I also have 280k planes but rarely use them and i'm not ashamed to say frankly i don't know how!

Unfortunately, that is a problem with the 251/253 Checkmates. It has been said that those are the fastest hulls that came out of the factory. This has been discussed a lot on here and if you search "Checkmate hop" you might find a way to tame it. Good luck!

I tamed my 219 Persuader (7.4L) a bit with a 23p High Five prop. The 23p Mirage (3 blade) was great for blasting at full throttle on long straight runs. Not so great for jumping out of the hole, holding plane below 30 mph, or sharp turns. I still have to get some more wheel time to dial in the correct trim and tab settings for running various speeds on my lake. You might want to try a 4 blade on your Convincor.

I've always preferred 4 blade props for a whole bunch of reasons. Having recently upgraded to manual tabs vs smarttabs I can honestly say they make a big difference in handling, holeshot and porpoising.
I can also say that they take quite a bit of time to learn to use properly.
I've had mine out for 5 runs in the last 3 weeks for a total of about 15 hours
and while I don't feel like a complete idiot anymore I certainly still feel like I'm in 1st grade.
A bunch of things I'm learning- I'd list some of them but I've gotta get to the office.

Try a Hydromotive QIV prop. Especially if you can find one with the diffuser ring trimmed off. Need to decrease stern lift and let the pad do the work and get the boat on top.

What pitch are you running? I have a 26p Mach Sterndriver that was a good all-around prop on my 253 and it is for sale fairly cheap.

Ive been through he same issue with my 251. I installed a Stingray Hydrofoil and it helps a lot. there is no down side effects that I can notice with it on the drive at any speed. Also, 'seat time' will help you learn how to manage this hull. It's truly a 'drivers' boat. i'm constantly adjusting tabs and trim according to water conditions and wind and boat speed. They're not like a Baja or Bayliner that you can just get in and go.

My porpoise taught me how to use my tabs. I use them to cruise below 40. Lift them from for high speed runs.

Exactly the same story here and I more or less use them the same way.

I also have 280k planes but rarely use them and i'm not ashamed to say frankly i don't know how!

Before you spend money or change anything I would recommend you learn/practice using them. They are awesome
