Shift Problem

Hey guys and gals!
Well, I had the "new" boat out, and I have only one problem...it is tough to shift out of forward, and into reverse. Makes for a tricky time backing into my slip between two wayyyy more expensive boats. After a fresh change of undies I feel good to go out again! Any help or ideas on the problem??
Thanks!

probalbly the rear shift cable is ready to pack it in. Remove the forward shift cable from the shift plate (one from the control box to the shift plate) on the engine and try moving the shifter, if it moves freely, your problem is at the rear.
