solar charging panels

Taube

New member
has anyone experimented with using solar panel chargers on an outboard while on the water to keep battery up while using stereo?

Dan

It can't hurt! especially during the week if your boat sits.
They don't charge at a high rate they just trickle. Might be the difference between starting and not starting though? I have one for my boat although I dont have a stereo yet! thanks

Solar Chargers

It would take a 10 watt panel (min) to do what you want it to do, anything else is a waste of time, More is better... its also more money. these things aren't cheap but it can be done. I have a large one for my travel trailer setup
it would charge a large dead deepcycle in 8 or 9 hrs on a sunny day. This was
a 64 watt panel.
