Speakers

Could anyone let me know what you think the best "marine" speakers are for your buck. I have to replace 2 6x9's and maybe add 2 6" if i decide to go that for.

Thanks in advance.

Echo the Polk's as well, I have two 6x9's and two 6-1/2's and everyone thinks I have a sub, which I do not. I am running a cheap ebay purchased Jensen 4 channel amp and very cheap ebay purchased Pioneer head unit.

I'll be the first one to say I went the somewhat cheaper route and bought 6x9 speaker boxes that match the carpet in my boat and a set of west marine 6x9's just added to my existing head unit and 4 sony 6 1/2s. i have to say it sounds great.

You cant go wrong with Polk. Im running 2 MM-UM series 6 1/2" component (separate tweets ) & 2, 6 1/2" coaxial and 1 10" sub and so far I'm very pleased.
All are coupled to a clarion 6 channel amp. I had the DB series in my 1850 and was very happy. The MM series has true crossovers instead of resistors which really give great separation between the mids and highs.

I'm running 4 Alpine Type R 7" in mine.
The install is almost done. 2 are in and 2 to go.
Sounds pretty good already.

Running Polk Momo's in mine 2 6x9s and 2 6.5s with a 12" sub 5 channel 880 sony amp. sounds great. I have friends that have spent way more money on their systems and they don't sound any better than mine.

Thanks for alll the info, onyl probably is room. I have to build speakers boxes if i add more than 2 6x9's that cam stock. Has anyone with a Senator put more than 2 speakers in it.

Pictures would help alot, trying to figure where the best place to mount the front ones.

not familiar with the senator but i had to build lower gunnel walls on my convincor and put two sets in the sides on angled speaker rings. i have done a lot of marine and rv stereo installs. bang for the buck i would say the new polk mm-um are a great speaker. no complaint have been running them for 3 years and have done 5 installs with them. anywhere from 2-6 sets.

I've always been a fan of Memphis audio for my cars (as well as the previous owner of my sportfire) so naturally Memphis marine equipment is on the shelf waiting to go in. Put a few Memphis systems in other boats and the sound is phenominal in my opinion
