speed runs

How much distance do you give yourself for a speed run? My lake is just under a mile long, kidney shaped with an island in the center channel. If I come out of the north end I can hammer down WOT for between 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile before I have to back off. I haven't been able to get it above low to mid 60's, where I will frequently experience some chine-walking.

I'm running
2004 2100
Merc 225 EFI
10" CMC hydro jackplate
tempest 25?

Seems like I should be able to do better than that even in those tight confines.

hey hoxsey, i think you need more space to drive out of that chine walk. take it out on a bigger lake where you can run a longer distance. that is the best way to practice. i too think you should see som better numbers.

illMATTic where do you run your boat at. am i able to take my predictor on bigger lakes or the sag river and bay to do a test run
so far ive just had it up to wixom

you can run all day long on the river. cant swim though

. i would stay away from the bay. too rough.

hotsey,

I'm with illMATTic on this. You need a lake where you have time to play with the trim and jack height to learn to drive it. The lake you speak of now doesn't give you the time in a run to do that.

I met a guy at the races this past weekend that has a 2100 closed deck with a 225 xri. He has a 6" cmc hydro. and was spinning a 25 Trophy Plus. We were running together in the low 70's GPS. With the 25 Tempest and some seat time I would expect you to see 73+.

Thanks guys. I'll have a couple of opportunities in September to run her on larger lakes. It's difficult to get many consecutive speed runs on my lake because, even if i'm alone on the water, it gets chewed up pretty fast. Nothing like a little cross wake wave action to get her flopping back and forth. Makes it hard to test adjustments between runs. Very little time to make any adjustment during the run. Still, 60+ through a 100 foot wide channel is pretty exciting.

raise the plate higher to help w/ the chine walk
Might need a water pressure gauge and to plug top two holes on lower unit.
