sportfire/diplomat top speed

I moved the motor up 2 positions, that was all I could get with the dangerous method I was using to lift the motor. Just that lift made a big difference. I had put the 21 prop back on. The water was very rough with whitecaps and all. On the North side the water was much more calm. My step son and I both felt like we were getting more speed than ever before. I went to turn on the hand held GPS and the batteries were dead. The boat speedo wasn't reading much higher than it did before with this prop but the ride felt much different. I am curious to see what the GPS reads next time I go out. We were riding further above the water than before. I had the motor trimmed way up. There is way more tension to the right on the steering wheel now. I need to adjust the motor trim tab. I am going to lift the motor off and put my jack plate on now if the control cables are long enough. I was going to wait until winter when I put the NFB PRO steering and bigger motor on.

I was out on the weekend and with my 26 chopper I was hitting a hair over 61 on the gps, as i can see I will have to raise the motor about 1 1/2" and should handle good to 65-67mph. The chine walk did not start until about 59 and at 61.5 it was getting pretty uneasy feeling but could have probably gone a little faster though. I would seem to loose power at about 5800 rpm, I think that my fuel filter may have caused a little bit of restriction at peak rpm, I am going to change filters and try again.

Pulled the boat home from camp this weekend and had about ten minutes to piss around while my wife and baby waited at the launch for me. THe boat pulled really good to sixty, I guess the cold air and water lean things out a little and make power, did not get much of a chance to to push much past sixty as they were backed up to the pad and holding up traffic may try for one more quick ride before I fog it and call it a season.
