Sportfire Prop issue

Fiat2000

New member
I have a 1981 Sportfire with a Mercury 115hp outboard on Buckeye Lake in Ohio. My brother bought me a SS prop (I'll have to get the actual specs later today) and it was so large I had to grind down the little trim tab. We just rebuilt the motor and the timing is perfect. 56mph on a calm day.

My problem is there isn't much of a hole shot and and it seems to lose bite on sharp turns unless it is super calm water. I struggle to pull up a skier and tend to drag them through the water. I figure I should be able to pull their arms off. My guess is my prop is way too big? I forgot the specs on my current prop at home, I'll get them posted soon.

It appears I'm running a 13 3/8" 19p three-blade SS Ballistic. Oh, and the Sportfire is a 1984, not a 1981. It looks like the standard prop for the Merc 115hp is a 13" three-blade 21p. What if I changed to a 13", four-blade 19p SS?
