Starflight Questions

Can anyone tell me if Checkmate built a Starflight/liner w/ an inboard?

The reason I ask is my buddy Jerry, who lives in the middle Keys says there is a Checkmate running around the bar scene (sandbar) that has a pair of nasty sounding 2.4s mounted extremely close together on a bracket. He said it looks just like my boat, but with a closed bow, which would be a Starflight, but he said it also had a closed transom & a small sun pad where the motorwell would be. He says the boat is scary fast & will out run his 20ft Lake & Bays w/ a 250xs. (I have been in that boat @ over 90mph) Could this be a converted I/O hull, or has someone gotten creative with the set up on an outboard boat?

Jerry says he hasen't seen it since the storms came through, & is trying to catch it sitting on a trailer somewhere, so he can get a few pics.

I'd like to see it as well; maybe It'll give me some ideas on how to close in the splash well on my enforcer.

Could easily be a Starflite with a custom transom bracket to mount twin OB's and the splashwell could be glassed over with a sunpad on top. Sounds pretty sweet.....I may have to look into that. Two OMC V8's = mmmmmmmmmmmmm ;)

One V8 is hard enough to keep running, 2 would be 2 pain in the a$$. + with the size of the powerheads & cowlings, I bet you couldnt mount them closer than 30" , center to center on the prop shafts. Although it look hot! By the way Rob, what are the speed #s on your boat thesedays ?

86.1 so far at 6200rpm with a 29p chopper. I need to get a nosecone, hydraulic jackplate with less setback, solid mounts and more seat time so I can hold onto it and see what she'll really do. Honestly after I'm comfortable driving it at the limit it better touch 100 or I'm gonna be dissapointed.
