Starflite prop????

OK guys Im looking for new prop for the Starflite and wondering if anyone has tried something new. I have a 02 225 EFI merc with 1:87 ratio. I have tried two Tempest plus,One Trophy and a great tubeing prop from Boatman. Ive seen mid 70 with the tempest and low 70's with Trophy. Any help would be great!!!!!! Thanks Patrick

Im honestly suprised the tempest ran faster. How high do you have the motor, did you change the heigth when switching between and what set back? Aaron

aaronmt- I had the same setup with the motor height between the two props. The motor height is 2 inchs below the Vee. Ive owned two stock tempest plus prop with different preformance. Both props bought at the same dealer within a year of each other. One prop was great from start to finish. The other prop was great for pulling a tube. Both had the same pitch 25. Prop one ran mid 70's and other never broke into the 70's. Prop's are black magic. I have no idea why??????????????? Mercury needs some QA on there props.

Mercury has always had big consistency problems with their props. Some guys buy them brand new and send them out to be balanced and blueprinted straight away. Starflite needs a lifting prop. I like the Powertech TRO4. Lifts like a tempest, handles like a Trophy. I've heard the Mazco HP4 is similar.

Ya ive heard that mercury props tend to vary alot. MARK when comparing the powertech to the tro4 do u go straight accross 25p to 25p? Have you run them back to back ive heard good things bout them but I must have got a good trophy, I cant say enuff bout it but may be going up a bit in pitch this summer when the motor is done?

Mark- Ive been thinking about tring the TRO4 out this spring. Maybe 26p or 25p. Cheaper than Mercury Tempest prop. Dose the TRO4 spin more rpm than aTempest? A 25 tempest on my 225 EFI spins 5700-5800 rpm.

TRO4 should spin the same as a Tempest in the same pitch at WOT, but still give you much better holeshot.

I use the PowerTech and can say it really holds the boat striaght. I'm in the process of having 2.7 heads, and rejetting, put on my 225 looper and will get some GPSs soon. The mech. working on the motor said though that a 3 blade would be faster. I have read somewhere thought that the Powertech beat most or all of the 3 blade props and was within .5 mph of the Mazco in top speed. Also the powertech folks claim at least 3 mph or more if you let them lab the prop, of course!
