Suggestion box...

Shameless

Active member
I am not suggesting anyone bash Checkmate, but what would you guys think about a "Suggestion Box"? For instance, the non-skid issue. Another suggestion I have is get rid of the cooler in the engine compartment and make more storage for fenders, anchors ect... How about courtesy lights in the cockpit. How about a step of somesort to get to the deck. Now, I do not think this is critisism, just things we would like to see on the boats and bring Checkmate up to level and standards of other manufacturers.

Bill, you have now eluded on a few occasions that somehow you don't feel like you are allowed to criticize Checkmate here. To my knowledge I have never said you could not criticize Checkmate on the board. To clarify, any member is free to criticize Checkmate if they so choose, unless in my opinion the criticism is completely unjustified. I would describe unjustified as "without merit". For example, someone who has come here with the express purpose to just bash Mate.

I also think Checkmate deserves an opportunity to correct problems before someone comes here and bashes them. If Checkmate isn't aware of a problem, it's hard for them to correct it, isn't it.

And really, that's only fair isn't it?

Being that you have customers of your own, how would you feel if one of them came here or went in the local paper for that matter and expressed their dissatisfaction with a service offered by your business. And they did so without even giving you a chance to rectify the problem first. To me that wouldn't be fair, would it?

Previously, when you had problems with Rick and Mate, I felt that it was unproductive for you to come here and give a play by play of what at the time was an evolving situation, especially when Rick and Kip were not here to do anything about the problem. It was my opinion at the time, that the thread you had going wasn't going to help get your problem corrected and in the mean time was whipping up other members, who were jumping on the bash band wagon. As I recall, one of the fiercest critics was Z, who we later learned is a thirteen year old portraying himself as a thirty eight year old firefighter with three kids. Given that your boat was built on time, which was your main criticism, making the call to temporarily shut down the debate was a pretty good call on my part I think.

Now with respect to whatever is currently going on with your boat. You apparantly were telling other members of the board via email or some other method, about your dissatisfaction with your boat. When they brought your words on to the board and into a thread which was intended to help sell your boat, you expected us to now edit or erase them. Suddenly your previous advocacy for freedom of speech, became an advocacy for erase and edit when it suited you. And when JW didn't erase what "your pals" posted, you started criticising us. And in the end we did what you asked and erased the thread.

Bill, if you want to criticise Checkmate go ahead. Kip is more than welcome to come here and defend Checkmate and tell his side of the story if he likes.

As for myself, I've just learned to take your various complaints in stride. After all, next month there is sure to be another one coming along.

I may have been the fiercest critic, but don't say just because I am 13 that I cannont have a say. I know it was stupid of me to "portray" myself, but I understand that now. I guess it was my "stupidity" to say stuff that I was told. If the person wants to say this on the public board, let them do it on there own. I've learnt that lesson now trust me. It was our fault that screwed up your Thread Bill, so I appologize, and Chris, I appologize for getting this all screwed up, portraying myself long ago, and any other stuff I've done to you... Chris

You can have a say just like everyone else. Did I say you couldn't?

Far from it, you've had your say about 2200 times on this board.

You really amaze me Chris. If a friend of mine asks me about my boat and some of the problems I am having, I think i am allowed to discuss it with them. I did not ask anyone to discuss my problems on the forum. I am sorry, I did not like the way that was handled when I listed my boat. I come home from work and see a conversation going on between Z and diturbed, then JW jumps in and closes it. I was not even given the opprtunity to interject on the matter

Since you claim to know all, let me correct you, my boat was not done on time, if it was, it would have been able to go back to the dealer for a thorough check-over before I got it. As Checkmate will tell you, some of my problems are parts that Checkmate installed, so I am working with the Manufactures of those parts to get them fixed.

Last I checked, this was an open forum when Kip and Rick were on frequently, so THey can discuss what ever they wish. In defense of Checkmate, many of my issues would not be so bad if I could ever get in touch with my dealer. It has been almost two weeks since I have heard from them. I had something break when I was in Green Bay the begiing of Aug, and I finally had to start getting the problem fixed on my own because my dealer dropped the ball.

I asked to close the thread last week because I did not want want those negative connataions associated with me on the forum, and I thanked you and JW for doing it.

Have you ever bought a new car or boat other than a Checkmate? Don't you get in the mail a survey about how did we do, what can we do to make this product better? Two things came up for me this weekend. One, I went to sit on my swimplatform, and slid off, second was we were out on the river after dark, I was looking for something and could not see, so I thought it might be nice to have the option of coutesy lights in the cockpit, not just the engine comprtment. Getting on or off my deckis not that easy when you are as shourt as I am. I am only 5'6", so it make it tough. Most boats have a molded step to get up or down. Ultimately what gave me this idea was i was reading Boating Magazine this weekend and they had an article about what sets certain boats above the rest. You might want to read it sometime!
Sounds like you need to go have a beer and Relax Chris... I meant nothing melitious by a suggestion box. I will finish in an e-mail...

Chris, Maybe you should take your own advice and learn the facts before you post on something you have no clue about.

Rest assured none of us will ever be as smart as you Bill. We all bow down to you, as you ride around on your high horse above us all.

Of course, all of us peasants can all revel in the fact we can at least have painted galvanized trailers.

Chris, if you feel inferior, than so be it. Just ask the people from the forum who know me and they will assure you that I DO NOT put myself on a pedastal. Excuse me for defending myself when you attack me for no damn reason!! Again, if you do your research Chris, When JW and I were talking about galvanized trailers, we were talking about two different types of plating. When I realized what JW was talking about, I acknowleded it and vise versra. I think you need to climb down off you little horse, sounds as if all those complimantary e-mails you recieved has gone to your head. I am not one to bow down to personal shots. I call it as I see it and when someone unjustifiably attacks me, I will come back twice as hard. Now we all know you have the ultimate power here, I am sure you will be closingthis thread, so why don't you be a man and reapond to me e-mail with a few of the facts, or can't you accept the truth?!?!?

I hope this isn't the reason the site is being shut down, if that was the case Jerry Springer would have been cancled in the first week?

Kip, I can only assume that Chris though I offended you or was bashing you by having a suggestion box. If I offended you or anyone associated with Checkmate Inc, that was not my intention, but honestly, I still do not know why I was attacked the way I was, I did not have any quarrels with anybody from the board...

No, you've never insulted Checkmate.

quote:
Now, I do not think this is critisism, just things we would like to see on the boats and bring Checkmate up to level and standards of other manufacturers.

Oh, so Checkmate is not up to the standard of other manufacturers. Mmm...yeah ok.

quote:
Man, my hull has more waves than the local State fair Queen in the parade...

Yup, no insult intended there eh bud?

quote:
Chris, knowing the guy's at Mate, they would not really care if I sell!

Oh, so mate doesn't care about their customers?

quote:
I know what you mean gslinger, that too is why I am looking for a new wheel, mine looks like somthing you can pick up at K-mart!

Remember this one Bill?

quote:
Also Kip, if you read my first post on the wheel again, it CLEARLY states that I like the outer wheel, I don't like the black spokes, it looks cheap, hence the K-mart comment. Do you want me to run to K-mart and pick you up some Midol?

quote:
I think I spelled Midol wrong, but it is for PMS. Kip seemed to be suffering from PMS, unless I read his comments wrong, which is always possible

Ah, yes the Bill is so misunderstood arguement. It's a pattern Bill, everyone sees it. You insult Checkmate, fellow members, the way I run the board, and then make excuses and claim your words were misinterpreted somehow. And when all else fails, you then ask us to delete the thread so you can rewrite history.

And you wonder why Checkmate isn't interested in listening to your complaints?

Sorry Bill, it's not all of us that are the problem, it's you.

Hey Chris, what ever you drugs you are on, keep me away from them. First, I thought we were talking about the suggestion box... You are worse than the media bringing up PARSHALL old quotes. If you think Checkmate is the best manufacturer in the world, you are mistaken. Checkmate will even tell you they are not the best in the world. There are things they can do better to make their boat more desireable. Face it, Baja and many others are unfortunately kicking there asses. These boatsa lack when it comes to creature comforts, so why not make suggestions to help raise the bar, why be a follower? Last time I checked, I orderd the steering wheel, Checkmate did not make the wheel, so why is that an insult to them? Why would Checkmate care If I sell the boat, I have sold my previous 4 Checkmates that I have owned... Yup, my hull is the worst one I have ever seen out of Checkmate as far as waves, if they take that as an insult, get out of the boat business. As far as deleting threads, I asked to delete the negative comments posted by others, one of those members you have kicked off the board... What fellow mwmbers have I insulted? When have I said you run the forum poorly, I disagreed with the way JW closed it. If you do not like people talking bad about Checkmate, then why leave the thread for people to read. Who said Checkmate is not working with me? I have not spoken to them in 2 monthes. I deal with the dealer as far as warranty, that is the way it should be! When you quote people, use the whole quote, including icons, some of those comments were jokes, you d understand a joke don't you? I never said that everyone was the problem, I just seem to have a BIG problem with your poor attitude
