HEY GUYS I THINK I NEED I 25P PROP OR BIGGER-AM RUNNING A 23 RIGHT NOW AND AM TURNING 6400R'S AND THE RED LINE IS 6000. THINKING I NEED A 25. ANY INPUT? AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS FOR MY RIG-21' STARFLITE 200MERC AND 12 INCH PLATE RUNING 2INCH SHAFT HEIGHT FOR NOW...........THANKS ROSS

25" Powertech TRO4.
I was running this on my identical rig to yours, but found it a little stiff during hot muggy summer weather (when I do most on my boating). I am now running a 24" TRO4 @6000 RPM and it is my best prop to date.

Im selling a used laser 2 26p
if your interested

I have heard of people running them on starflites

what size gearcase do you have?

You didn't indicate how the boat was performing only how the motor was turning the wheel. How's it running?

illmatic sent out my switch boxes and i should have them either tomarow or tuesday! other than that it runs fine.... just want more top end and don't want to run it at 6400r's when the limit is 6000r's!!!!! what do you think? a 24,25,or a 26? mind you i never pull anyone behind the boat...... if i wanted a ski or tube boat i would have bought a ski nautique!!!!!!:bigthumb:

But....We still don't know how it's running as in " How fast is going on top end" ? If you are cruising at 65-66 mph and have great acceleration that's a pretty good set-up. A higher pitch WILL give you more top end but you'll suffer out of the hole.

I didn't think you had a rev limiter on that motor as you obviously can turn 6400 so where is this "redline" of 6000 rpm coming from? A stock 200 hp on a Starflite running a 25-26 pitch prop seems somewhat aggressive. But if your numbers bear it out then by all means try it.

...another thing is "what" 23" prop are you spinning @6400?? There's a noticable difference in blade diameter AND geometry from prop to prop. For instance, I can spin a 23" Tempest @5900, a 23" Trophy Plus @6100 and I'd spin a 23" Laser II to the moon... The Tempest being the fatest, btw.

Mark makes a very valid point, too. Your motor is running it's proverbial "arse off" right now in the cool air up there. You will loose some rpm as the heat and humidity increase. The numbers I recorded above were from some of our cooler months down here last fall. I'm really hoping I can still pull that Tempest in the dead of the summer.

top end i'm running 62.2 gps w/ 2 guys and cooler, 3/4tank of gas. hole shot is great mid-range is also great but i'm worried about running it two high in the r's. i'm getting this redline reading off the tach. it is the original tach also. just was wondering how to get a few more mph and you may be right with the cool air yet i only had the boat since late last year and didn't pay much attention to the numbers due to it still being bone stock!

oh forgot i'm running a 23 quiksilver right now and that is what was on it when i bought it.
