Taylor Made Anchor Shade II

Active member
Well there was one at the local West Marine on clearance so I picked it up for my Predictor.
I use the back cleats to anchor it but I have no front cleats and wanted to keep it that way. I added two little stainless loopy things for a bimini top to the corners of my windshield frame.

Well it fits ok other than the fact the shade is wider than the mounting points on the windshield. The straps are kind of a pain to get adjusted properly. I dont think I have the enough outward span of the straps as far as mounting.
The straps either go straight down or almost inside the perimeter of the shade.
Im going to play around with it some more.
I really like the look of it but it kinda big on my 16 footer.

I saw Ndaniels post and pic with his. Mine doesnt fit that well as far as anchoring the straps. I also only set it up in its lowest position. Maybe ill crank it up and anchor it see how it holds.

Do you have bow rails? I have one and once I got the straps set I never fooled with them again. Attach the straps then slide the shade up tighting it up.

Love my Anchor Shade. The wife hates it. It blocks out too much of the sun and she can't get sufficiently fried. Oh well.

It works good, but on my 24SB too... but it moves around some due to the narrow beam... I usually tie a rope across the back of the bolsters to secure it better. Works great on my old Exciter and 21SB.

I've seen alot of those predictors without bow rails, so that might not be an option... you don't have any cleats infront of the windsheld on the sides of the boat you can use???

Thanks for your comments guys. No, I only have a cleat on each side in the back. No bow cleats or rails. Just the small eyelets I added to the top corners of the windshield frame.
Which look fine and sorta descret but just doesn't seem to anchor it out far enough from the shade itself.
Like I said I am sure ill just have to keep messing with it to find what works.

What if i stuck a suction cup with a hook below the rub rail towards the bow on each side to better anchor it? Then pop them off when not needed and I don't need to drill any holes.
