Thermostat removal issue

I tried to change my Theromstat this weekend and was unable to accomplish this task. My issue is, after I took off the hoses and cover and was looking at the Thermostat, I tried to just lift it out and it was totally stuck and didnt even budge.....im thinking it was maybe rusted on...??

I tried to pry it out with "some force" but came up empty still...I didnt want to totally force it or break it....

Isnt the thermostat just supposed to life right out??...does it come out the bottom of the housing?...Can I spray some PB Blaster on it and see if thatll lossen it??

and by the way...the motor is a 84 GM 185hp 3.8L V6...

thanks in advance...

T-stat

I've never run a 3.8 in anything but pulled a lot of t-stats from many different Chevys, Buicks and Olds motors. Be careful about prying it's better to use a piece of wood block and bump it or pull it up with pliers.

If it's slow it must be an OMC.

not sure about a V6, but my V8 has a brass sleeve that you have to remove before you can get the t-stat out.

Hmmmm, interesting...that could be a possibility.....does it just come out of the top?..Slides out??
Yes, with a little force.
When I changed mine I call the local marina to get all the parts that was needed to change the t-stat, their was a small gasket between the sleeve and the t-stat too.

Hope this helps you.
