It finally happened!!!! I had a great weekend, the boat ran great and all things went well. We took it out both Sat and Sunday with the in laws, drank some cold ones, and had a great time. A big thanks to everyone on this forum for support, paving the way, and all the help and advice. I would not be able to have done this without the amazing group on this forum. Thanks to all of you!!!!!!!!!1:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Thanks guys, I didn't have a chance to see what she could do. Not only was I taking it easy on her (still nervous, scared, etc) but the lake was full of boats and pretty rough. I did give it a couple of quick blips of the throttle with my mother in law on board and saw 55 speedo in a matter of seconds. That's with a 23 hi 5 and about 5k on the tach. The lake is so high so I really want to take it easy for a while. It does have some great acceleration with that prop.

10-4 on that. It was my first trip out with my check this past weekend and just had fun cruising, until i figured some things out and let the motor break in.

man this makes me really happy to see this this is the same model boat as mine is this boat around an 84? it is going to take me about 3 years to finish mine too haha so thanks for making me feel better about myself im not alone. it looks great! where did you put your fuel tank?

Thanks for all the compliments. I really wanted put the effort into having a great looking and running boat when this was all said and done and am very proud of how she looks now. Got a lot of attention already at the lake, I now know what you guys mean about people staring as the boat goes by.

Slamram, I mounted the fuel tank back between the transom knees I made under the rear deck (stock location). And you're pretty close, its an 82 and the motor is an 83.

Smit, with the advice of several others and the limited usage I have with mine I would say a 150 or even a 2.4 175 are great motors for these boats.
