The front seat bases in my 88 Starflite don't seem to want to stay tight. I can tighten up the seat base bolts and they seem to stay tight, until we take the boat out that is. Over the course of the day, they loosen up. Any suggestions to tighten these up? The floor and seat base boxes are rock solid (thankfully, so is the entire boat thanks to diligent previous owners).
My first thought was to remove the seat bases, fill the old screw holes with sealant or epoxy, rotate the seat bases 20 or 30 degress, then drill new holes and use lag bolts to bolt them down.
Does anyone know if the seat bolts have backing nuts under the floor? I appreciate any suggestions, I figure enough of you guys have restored Starflites and Starliners to make this seem like a pretty small problem.
Thanks!
Jeff
