Well I guess i'm one of those lucky ones to come home to a checkmate 186 with a 200 on the back in the drive way!
But now the dilemma..... To ad a Jack plate or not to?
What will this do for me? Besides look cool of course!
And how much set back and why?

I would start with 12" jackplate, if your transom is solid. If I remember correctly that's a heavy hull and you'll need the leverage to carry the bow.:thumb:

Definitely get one, it will improve the handling, reduce chine walk and like you said look cool too.

I don't know for sure but I think that it might porpoise at lower speeds with 12" setback, why not start at 8" and you can always add some 2" or 4" spacers, I'm thinking that 10" will work good.

My boat is around the same size as yours and 10" works best.

Ok thanks guys!
Now what name brand should I go with?
I was thinking of going with hydraulic steering at the same time...so what bradd name ? And best place to buy

I would check with the supporting members on here for a price. Sea Star for steering and Bob's CMC hydraulic jack Plate.

Get a 10in. It carries well when gettin with the program yet you can still run nuetural trim for just cruising, or a bit negative trim for watersports without porpising issues at lower speeds.
I run a 10in manual J/P on mine and wouldn't want to go anymore. As you can see it carries the hull just fine..

What's your top speed?

Best I've seen is 61.8 GPS. 60 anyday with just me in the boat. Handles like it's on rails until you over trim it.

I love mine! The best part is I plane out instantly. It just jumps out of the water and goes when its down all the way.
