"Wanted" Tom Kane

What are you looking for?

I might be talked into selling my 2000 Stiletto Open Bow. Very low hours and like new condition.
454 MAG MPI, ProCharger installation by Jason Kunkel, Headers, dual ram full Hydraulic steering, Bravo 1, great stereo. Acceleration like a rocket. Turns a 34P 4 Blade Spinelli.
Runs 86MPH GPS anytime. 88 MPH GPS is the best number so far.

Motor is 1 week away from being back in the boat. Block bored 0.030 over, new flat top pistons, rods, balanced and blueprinted, heads all redone, inconel valves, roller rockers,.... no expense spared. All engine work done at Farmers in Webster NY

I owed two new checkmates inboards, blown and also highly modified. Both here in Indiana and Mich and in Florida. LOVED BOTH. Now only want outboards and only boat I am looking for is a 24 foot checkmate with at least 300 hp with a open bow .

My days of spending years of my life modifying etc are over. I am 78 years old. Two of those inboards NEVER EVEN STARTED THEM. Picked them up in Bucyrus, already had all the performance parts, SPENT the winter in our aircraft hangar totally modifying the engines. My wife would say, you never even STARTED THE NEW BOATS ENGINE.
She thought I was totally nuts. She might have been right, but it sure was fun....

PURCHASED NEW 24 foot open bow checkmate boat yesterday, July 16. It will be built to my EXACT SPECTS. SO NO LONGER LOOKING FOR A 24 footer. Spent hours every day since MARCH looking for a boat in USA AND CANADA. FINDING A 24 foot open bow checkmate in good condition would be like trying to win the lottery. Near impossible. My guess, I spent three hours a day for five months. With so many people looking, it’s near impossible. People who have them love them. Those few I found for sale, had owners that were running a business or just way to busy to use the boat. Most had very few hours on them. Those boats were INSTANTLY PURCHASED within a few min.

Congrats on the new build! We are recent 2400BRX owners and have been enjoying ours so far.

Which engine are you going with?

FWIW - Ours has trim tabs and unless you run on very small lakes and rivers I would own a 2400 without them. Totally transformers the ride when its gets choppy, especially messy boats wakes, and cross waves etc.

Tom Kane NO longer is trying to find a 24 footer. He decided enough already and drove to Bucyrus Ohio, WITH HIS WIFE IN TOW, and they both signed the papers for a new 24 foot open bow with 4.6 V8 engine, 300 HP.

Had a great day at the plant, learned a lot, watched some boats being built and was very happy he visited the plant. Will have his and her new toy by end of Sept or around there. The management and sales staff could not have been any better. This will be our 4th checkmate. We loved them all.
