Too superstitious? "opinion"!

Want to change the name to either "Pipe Dreams" or "Powder Burn"

As far as the incense , thanks for the generous offer Sim, however I'm pretty sure I got plenty up in the attic, stored in a box right next to my old lava lamps and Peggy Lipton posters :o

WOW! Totally forgot about Peggy Lipton, this is hilarious stuff.
Maybe you could name it One Hitter or Weed Hunter these would both
attract a equal amount of attention and way better than Thong Hunter.
Just joking with ya Kurt Ive really enjoyed this thread.

Unless there is more than one boat with that name I actually ran into {not literally} the "Thong Hunter" off the coast of Salem Mass two years ago, it was a 25 ft Convincer with a for sale sign on it.

Just remembered the Convincer we saw was called "Thong Chaser" -- yet another terrible boat name

By the way, god bless the thong :thumb: --- I'm just say'in

I am still a firm believer that there should be an application process in order to wear one though. Some people should really not feel good enough about themselves to wear one....Just sayin!:bigthumb:

i don't think you can be too careful with the rename. it may be coincidence, but unusual things do seem to happen when the rituals are ignored. there may be more to those time honored traditions than just, well, tradition.

a close family i know purchased a rather large sailing yacht with a less than ideal name for them. it has just worked out that the name really does fit them and the boat quite well. they initially considered, briefly, a rename but went against it due to the whole superstition attached with the renaming of vessels. this is something that weighs in heavy in the yachting world.

... in the names to avoid list, "Rock Buster", "Titan Uranus", and this one really gives pause for thought, "Unsinkable II". Oh yeah, add "Boobie Chaser", "Goin Down", and "Fire in the Night" to the list too.

I once had a Chris Craft that came with name "Easy Does It", I had no idea that was the motto of the 12 step program for AA until after a couple of years of cruising around usually with somekind of alcohol being enjoyed by all, someone at a dock party asked me if I regretted not sticking with the program,---- while taking a sip {ok maybe a gulp} of my capt & coke, I replied "what the f%#k are you talking about" ---- he skiddishly explained to me the meaning of the name "Easy Does It".

Other names I've had on boats were....

Fluid Motion
Smoke On The Water
Searcher

None of those names came from me, my Check is the first boat I named --- that was because it didn't come with a name on it.

How about these little gems, seen around the marina in these parts, "Leakey", "Blaise", "On the Rocks", and a sail boat with "Bottoms Up" on the stern.

I saw an old wooden cruiser called "prop prop, fizz fizz" I have always liked that one for some reason. Mainly because "oh what a relief it is" I imagine.

I bought my boat it was already named "Gimme Fuel", guy was a Metallica fan.

I had full intentions of changing it, then it grew on me. At the time I was going to name it "Fuelish Pleasure" since it fit so well at the time and it was a fool's errand for me to buy it at the time, but then I realized how cliche it was. Never thought of anything I liked better than the original plus the name screamed "pit a bigger engine in me" so I did.

Always wanted a boat worthy of naming it the Enterprise, -- that way when ever being involved in marine radio chatter I could use the call out --- "this is Capt Kurt of the Enterprise".
I'd have a great time screw'in around in the neutral zone and hav'in sex with gorgeous alien chicks.
