Top Speed Poll on New 2100BR......

Chris, thanks for posting the pictures. And to Kip for taking them. Kip Combs sad he would continue to take and post pictures during the build process.

I sent the pictures to Chris in the wrong order, but I'll tell what the pictures show.

#1. The deck mold with the first couple of layers of lamination.

#2. The hull mold has been sprayed with the final gel color and is ready for lamination.

#3. The deck hull is complete and ready to be pulled from the mold. The balsa core has been added. Note the lifting blocks on the front and back used to pull the deck from the mold. They will later be removed. The cylinders are glassed in for the control and steering cables. The edges of the the deck has been trimmed of the excess glass/resin.

#4. The hull still in the mold with the first couple of layers of lamination. Notice that the hull strakes have been filled with a resin based putty.

#5. The hull after the balsa core has been added.

#6. The deck removed from the mold. The lifting blocks have been cut out.

#7. A first look at the colors. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but there is a mist of silver metal flake in the red and black gel. It should look nice in the sun.

#8. The transom, floor and stringers are being glassed into the hull. Later, the voids will be filled with flotation foam.

Pictures in the "Workin hard at the factory..." post.

#1. A box style stringer/ transom has been glassed and puttied into place. It looks stout enough for a Merc 300x. The void in the middle is for the gas tank.

#2. An "out of focus" transom shot.

#3. The bow section of the floor and ski locker is in place. The wedges on the right side of the picture are the foot rests.

#4. Another transom shot.

#5. The deck out of the mold and flipped over.

#6. A strern deck shot.

#7. Close up of deck graphics. The workers have circled areas that will be wet sanded before the whole deck is buffed. Notice the 4 "ticks" left of the graphics. They are in the mold and are used to align deck hardware (bow lights, cleats, etc).

#8. Bow view. Kip Combs tried to talk me into adding graphics on the bow. I wish I would have, it looks a little plain on the bow.

#9. Deck graphics.

#10. A 240ZT and a 260ZT hulls.

#11. A Pulsare 1600 w/ a Mercury 125. I like the "flame" graphics.

#12. A Pulsare 2100 w/ a 3.0L Mercury 225EFI.

#13. Stern shot of the 1600 Pulsare.

#14. A yellow Pulsare 1600.

#15. Exterior shot of the 1600. What a fun little boat that would be w/ a 150XR Mercury.

That would be perfect with the XR6

And a 26" Laser II prop and 10" of setback.....

Checkmates owned: 1995 Pulsare 2100BR/1995 Mercury Promax 225 2.5 EFI. 1995 Persuader 183/4.3 LX V6. 1992 Pulse 171/1992 Mercury XR6 150 hp 2.5 liter.

SCT...how'd your boat turn out??? I am thinking of building the same set-up other than I would be using a 10" bob's hyd. fast-jack (light, fast, and I like the adjustability without a wrench)...after all, this would be a FAMILY BOAT!!! The only thing I haven't been able to do is talk my wife into it... Jim.

It’s a little to rough around here for me to own an outboard like this. But I'm curious, how does a 20' boat (swim platforms don't count) handle at 90+mph? My persuader was similar length and at 80mph it was out of control even with external hydraulic steering and almost double the weight.

Be very careful, helmets and crash vests are a must at this speed. Even then you have to be willing to pay the ultimate price.

Scotty, I need more power!

sweet, keep the pics coming on that project, its great to see exactly how they come together like that!!
my guess is 91

thatll be a white nuckle ride, good one to video, if it could be posted here!!

good luck
kevin

never fast enough!

I know that the old boat SCT had was a dream to drive. It actually drove better in the 80's than it did in the 60's. Yes at that speed you had to drive the boat but I never felt in danger with it. It really did like a little chop to get the hull up. Can't wait for him to get this new one in the water come spring of 04.

Hopeing for the 90's.I'm setting up an 89'Starliner w/ a 2002 300x.I'm hopeing for upper 80's low 90's.I'm gonna try a 28 chopper.Open for suggestions on props.

jrmon,
No H2O yet! I still haven't picked up the boat, yet. It's been in the high 60s in Charlotte, NC......so I'm getting anxious!

I've been shopping around for a 300X. I've even thought about the new super-charged 4 stroke Mercury. But I heard they will not be out until later in the year.

Any word from "Bubba" on the speed from his 2100/300X?

SCT

SCT, you need to strap one of these bad boys on the back. Simmon motorsports. early reports of 365hp on pump gas. The kicker is it will do it all day long.

Its based on the 3.0L block, 2.5 electronics.
I wonder if that would work on my lil trimate.

175,

I've been following that post on S-F. It sounds pretty impressive!

I'll probably keep my rig stock in order to sell it easier. A MAD EFI would be nice, though.

I still think the boat will run 93-95 with a stock 300X, blue printed bottom and dialed in...

On S-F, they had a production 21' Progression running 101.3(GPS) with a stock 300X. But, the Progressions are alot lighter then a Pulsare. It was a very impressive speed for a true 21 V-bottom. No one thought the guy would break a 100.

sct, NOPE IT IS VERY VERY COLD HERE, HOPE TO TAKE HERE OUT IN A FEW WEEKS, II'L LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW SHE RUNS
