Tow truck shopping

So I got an offer on my 12 Silverado that I decided not to pass up on. But that has left me without a good tow truck. I have my old beater that i trust enough to get it to and from the local lakes but not so much over the road. So the search begins... I am going to start looking for an 03-07 GM 2500HD. Looking for a 6 liter truck. Must be 4wd and must have a back seat. Would like to find one under 150k miles and would like to stay in the $12k and under (trying to get out of some debt so i can spend foolish amounts of money on the Enforcer!!). The big kicker is I would like to find one with a manual trans and a clean truck!!

So if any of you guys know of anything please pass it my way!! As a few know I am not afraid to drive for what I want so within reason I am not worried about where it is at (tho anything west of the Rocky's would have to be a pretty damn good deal). Just wanted to throw this up and get you alls thoughts and see what anyone knows about!

Thanks

Thanks for the responses guys! Dave that link did have several good looking trucks in it! I will be sending a few messages!! If it is close to you would you be willing to stop by and put eyes on it for me?

As for Hoffa he is a little too pissed to talk right now... I took him out of a climate controlled back seat or a brand new truck and threw him in the bead of this beast!!

Well thanks to Dave for posting the link to the cincy C-list it looks like i am going to try to make a run to Lexington area this weekend to take a look at a truck! Its an auto unfortunately but other than that its about the perfect truck for us! Then i will just have to find a pull one manual and do the conversion and call it a day!

That was quick.

That it was! I was not expecting to find a truck that fast. But i have been looking all over the country and this one seems to be the best fit for the money. Im hoping i can work him down a few more bucks when i get there but he has been pretty good to deal with over the phone so far!

Well after a 4 hour trip to Lexington early Saturday morning i have a means of taking the boat on road trips again! Like any used truck it has its issues and flaws but all in all i think it is a decent truck! Will probably have a friend at a junk yard start keeping an eye open for a manual trans and peddles for her and going to have her tuned for a little better fuel economy and a little more power! Possibly a Whipple in its future!

6.0L? I know some tricks with that motah for power & mileage. Stock tuning on those is horrible. The auto trans in that is a good one, not sure if it is worth the trouble to get the man petal back.

It is a 6.0L. And you would be correct on stock tuning being s**t!! I am all ears on tips for tuning! It will be getting a custom tune using HP tuners i believe is the program he is still using. So we should have pretty much full access to do whatever we please in the computer. Just have to get the truck ready for it... And as for the trans i havent seen many issues with them. The truck has right at 100k miles on it tho and i seem to be the king of blowing auto trans up! My 09 HD had the 6.0L with the new 6 speed auto and it started slipping at about 45k miles on the clock... But I wont be doing much work on replacing it till it does let go.
