Well-known member
are all trophy plus ' 4 1/4" hubs or did i read somewhere before odd pitch small even big,4 3/4" hub or just how its ordered ? just curious thanks z

This is right from Mercury Parts Express:

Trophy Plus
Want to get your fishing boat on plane fast? Check out the Trophy Plus. The Trophy Plus is legendary for its amazing hole shots and eye-watering acceleration. Its four stainless steel blades stay hooked up better in tight turns, making for incredible boat handling. For use with mid-range and V-6 Outboards. For outboards 75 HP - 300 HP Legendary 4-blade stainless steel blade geometry Quicker hole shots, great speed Dramatically improves handling and reduces steering loads Equipped with PVS - Performance Vent System If engine RPM's are good with 3-blade prop, replace with the same pitch Trophy Plus Small tube hub allows for added exhaust venting over the hub for improved hole shot 17" - 28" pitch Equipped with Flo-Torq II 835257K6 For use with non-Mercury applications see Flo-Torq II reference chart. If venting is excessive for non-Mercury applications a seal ring 878421 allows the exhaust to pass through the inner hub

I don't see anywhere to order a Trophy Plus w/a large hub. The sealing ring that is noted above is to stop the exhaust from flowing over the hub. Then the prop can be tuned with the PVS plugs with different size holes or even left w/o any plug installed at all. Yours currently has the plugs installed that completey plug the vent holes and will obtain all its venting over the outside of the hub. I have heard of small hub props being run with the sealing ring or "blow-out" ring on Mercs, too even though the description states for "non-Merc" applications. Hopefully Boatman will see this and shed some more light on it.

One prop that for sure used two size hubs was the Laser II. Maybe that's what you're thinking Z. All the 'evens' were small hub, all the 'odds' were large hub.

I ran a 26" (small hub) Laser II on my XR6 which had the smaller diameter case and 1.78:1 gear ratio and torquemaster style water intake. The 'XR6' is a very sought after high speed LU, but only after Steckbauer gets done with it. The internals weren't strong enough for 200+ hp engines. I may have spelled his name wrong...................

At one time, the Trophy was available in both small hub and large. Didn't matter what pitch. My thought is that the large hub didn't sell very good so they dropped it. I had one in a 24" pitch one time and sent it back for a small hub 24. The samll hub turned more rpm's and of course, ran faster. boatman
