Anyone use roll on bed liner instead of carpet? If so, do you like the way it turned out? Post some pics if you have any. Thanks.

I haven't done it yet but I am in the process of preparing my boat for spray on bed liner. I'm using a product called Line X. It is available colour matched any colour and doesn't heat up in the sun (even black). Cost is about 10 bucks a square foot. This product is non-removeable, sticks to everything and entirely seals the substrate.

It is heavier than carpet. (Heavy=slower) Check with the manufacturer regarding resistance to UV's-could look bad after a couple years. I had my D-Max done in Rhino lining and they gave me a bottle of "color restorer" and said to use it once a year. I wouldnt do it on a boat. Carpet is really nice.

might be heavier - about a gallon of gas heavier. As far as the colour it will fade at the same rate as paint cause the paint is mixed in. It is not a surface colour but solid

I like the lineX idea. I talked with the LineX guys down here in Washington and they said that they could also spray it a little thinner than they do in truck beds becuase your not expecting to haul dirt in the boat. I talked to them because I'm going to have them spray my trailer after I redo everything. I have it in the bed of my truck and I like it better than Rino liner, alot thinner and looks good for years. Good luck with your project.

I'm sorry...but unless you are cosidering this for a work boat you gotta be nuts..sorry...the stuff is heavy, ugly, and if you have to take it out, well you just as well get some gas and a match !!! actually saw a 26 nova II they had done the whole deck with this crap, in red..there are better ways to fix faded gel !!!! it looked horrible and ain't going to be no easy fix if someone ever tries...don't get me wrong, the stuff is great in a truck bed, and best left there..my 02 !!!

Spray Liner Floor

I think it would look cool w/ a snap in carpet over the top.

That is what I was going to do it if I kept my Starliner.

As far as getting it off if it started to peal, fade, etc., I agree with ezstriper, it would be a battle.

But...if you have to replace an area of the floor it wouldnt' be such a big deal, maybe an extra saw blade or two and a patch.

I would be inclined to guess that it would add more weight than a gallon of gas, but unless you are out to set a speed record, who cares!

Good luck and post some pics when you are done!

some guys over on S/F use similare products on their floors. it is all white. they have stripped down boats though.

i would not use it on my pleasure boat. it would be hard on your feet.

line ex will not stick for any length of time over wood or epoxy. trust me. i have been dealing with this stuff for years. they will no garuntee it.

Thanks for all the input. Brought up A LOT of good points and things I hadnt thought of. I will more than likley be going with carpet, it keeps the empty beer cans from banging around so much.

I think you are on the right track here. I am currently replacing transom, stringers and floors. Lord help me if I had to remove Line-X or Rhino liner.:pissed:
