I have a 1994 merc efi 175 that has a low speed vibration, it goes away after I apply a little power to it. Runs nice and smooth at anything just a little above an idle. Any ideas?

Not sure how bad your vibration is, but I haven't seen a v6 yet that didn't run a little rough at idle especially if you run a stainless prop or solid mounts.

Jim

I guess this is the first boat I'v had with a jackplate and stainless prop, maybe Im just not familliar with the set up. It runs nice and smooth at anything above idle. Thanks! JEFF

I have a Pulse 186 with a 200 Merc V6 carb. If I don't trim the motor out some at idle I get a wicked vibration right up to the windshield. The reason to trim out at idle is to allow the pent up exhaust to more easily discharge from the lower unit and prop. The second benefit is that it will alter the floats in a carburated model. The first time I experienced this vibration I thought something was wildly wrong with the engine. Now I realize it's just the nature of the beast. No more vibration. Not sure if an EFI will benefit from the same trim adjustment?!
