i have just aquired a 1980 mercury 80 hp. i havent seen it in person but looks great in pics. the guy promised it runs. i was just wondering wat it would be worth on the open market. it still has all the painting of mercury and the pinstripes on cowl. the foot still has the black paint on the very bottom of fin. i would eat off motor.:sssh: he is sold it to me realy cheap.about how fast would it push my trimate II with a 19 pitch prop.;)

Well I can tell you this . My Trimate II has a 150hp inline six on her and I have a 21 p prop on mine and she does 55mph. As to what the 80hp would do I cant say . Congrats on the new motor

wow thanks. such fast reply:p. i have a 1989 175 evinrude hanging in my shop. i think that will be my power plant. by the sounds of it, that 80 hp will be nothing more than a trolling motor. hehehe ehehe:sick: i will put that little one for sale i guess, or use as a spare.

Now my buddy just picked up a checkmate V141 and it has a 80hp on it . Which I just removed the lower unit cuz its bad . But We are gunna stay with that power plant . Now ive always been a Merc guy . Never really cared for the OMC's But thats just my opinion.

i agree with u will30, i am a merc guy as well. :bigthumb:the omc that i have came on a trade for some work i done on a boat. i did have a merc tower of power strait 6 150 when i was younger.:o if i could turn my foot around i would shouve it where the sun dont shine (if u know wat i mean) because i traded it for a little kabota tractor. i got this trimate on trade and decided to referbish that baby. now i need a merc to go on it. i think the omc 175 will be to heavy (ancor weight):) hehehe. would u be intrested in the 80 hp merc. what would it be worth.

That 80 Merc would be perfect for the back of a Playmate GT or Paradise F-13

JW is right that would be perfect for a smaller lighter boat . Thats why my buddy with the little V141 is gunna keep the 80 hp merc on his . Even tho its rated at 150hp . Thats just to much power on a 14 ft boat . the 80 should do just fine . Now your boat should be rated for 150 hp max .

Congrats on becoming a supporting member ezflyer. Post up some pics of your trimate .

Really it all depends on the condition of the motor . Ive seen them go up to 1000.00 dollars but I would say around 400-500 range. (if its in really good condition) . I bought a 115 inline six and a complete parts 115 inline for 300.00. Was a great deal the one runs fantastic
