Vintage Sutphen Update

Member
OK, so after getting positive comments on this forum and finding generally positive reviews on the 'net I went ahead and bought the vintage Sutphen.
Will not stop looking for a Checkmate, but this time of year prices and auction bids around here are going beyond where I want to go. My kid's ready to adopt the Sutphen any time I'm ready to switch back, so I expect he'll be helping me look.
I'll be keeping my log-in and checking the forums, but I guess I'll be hanging in Open Boating and Vintage Boating for a while.
Thanks for your input; this site has been great!

Congrats on getting back on the water. Your welcome to hang where ever you want here. We have guys without boats, different brands etc. The basics are the same across the board. I'd like to see what you got. My dads freind way back when had a twin 30 some foot back in the 80s that was bad azz.

X2 on the pictures. defiantly stay around not all of us own a checkmate at this time. I am one of them.

Working On It

Wish I could use attachments...much easier!
I'm trying to post some photos, but it's been a while and I can't seem to get the URL links to work.
I'll figure it out.

There's a couple of how-to posts on here for using Photobucket. Upload, copy links, paste here.

Put them on photo bucket. Use the direct link from photo bucket. Then copy and past the direst link into the small photo icon at the top of the massage board on the checkmate site. Done.

Finally Photos

Thanks for the hints.
Something odd was going on with my Copy function.
After I restarted my PC a picture finally showed.

Anyways, it's a 1974 Sport Pacer 17.
1988 Mercury 150 Black Max.
I thought Checkmates were flat, but this thing has the shallowest hull I've seen this side of a hydroplane.

I'm boating out of Richmond, Virginia these days.
Started boating in Upstate New York, Adirondack Region, many years ago.

Thanks for the invites; we're going to mark the calendar and try to make it. We've been short of events since they stopped having Hydroplane races down at Clarkesville, Va. (I bought the Sutphen partly to keep the wife from making me get her a Jersey Skiff!).
