vinyl seat stained?

urbancowboy

New member
left a wet life jacket over the seat of my 05 2100br one night and the inside of the jacket's logo and lettering stained the top of the seat. I've tried everything to clean it. magic eraser, vim, bleach, tide bleach pen, vinyl cleaner with no luck. anyone got any suggestions? Its almost like its permanently died on there. Its not supper dark but noticeable. it won't come out or even fade :brickwall::pissed::mad:

There is a cleaner called Totally Awesome that works well on stains. I get it from the Dollar Store and havent had any problem with fading when using it.

I have had very good results with a product called SPRAY 9!!!

Let it soak in the bright sunlight!!!

Good luck!

Joe

I like Spray 9 as well, I'm pretty sure the main cleaning component in it is Caustic soda(NaOH), it's a fairly weak solution of it though, but still wear gloves and don't get it in your eyes.

I've got the same problem from a wet plastic sack that was left on the seat, the lettering ink transfered onto the seat and I too haven't found anything that will get it out. Where do you get the Spray 9 at???? I would love to get those ink stains off of my seat!!
UC, let me know if that works on your stain...

You can try to clean it all you want but the good news is that the sun will bleach it gone over time. I know because my interior is bright white and three summers ago my wife's new black bathing suit bled dye all over the seats--I freaked out and thought the bolster cover was toast. After a few weeks in the sun, it was gone.

i'm hoping to try bleach on it, on a hot sunny day, see if it fades it, thanks for all the replies and suggestions, all appreciated

A old trick I have used for many years on hard stains is brake cleaner. You must try it in a hidden spot first and do small areas at a time. If you spray it on heavy, it can melt the vinyl. It does work on lots of hard stains.

It's like the tussin the tussin works on everything!:rof:

Have you tried denatured ethanol? That's worked for me with ink stains before (saved my a$# once 'cause I was stupid and had a ball point pen in my back pocket while riding in my wife's new car).

A detailer around here uses engine brite......but dont let it sit for very long....haven't tried it yet, but a few people have told me that it works great for stains on vinyl.

I've used goo gone on a stain from bleed through from my bimini, it works great. Another option is try using wd40 it works on alot of stuff too.

Hi everyone, I've tried just about everything with no luck. My next thing, lastly, to try is bleach, and will post the results. Thanks for all the suggestions
