Wakeboarding and Skiing?

Anyone do any Wakeboarding and Skiing with their checkmate?? I am trying to find a bowrider that the family can enjoy, and of course something that is FASTTTT

I ski behind my Starliner (open bow Starflite). Its nicer to ski behind than my last boat which was a plain runabout type bow rider. Even on one ski it pops me right up. Wake boarding might not be the greatest as a speed boat doesn't make a big wake really. Just prop it accordingly and it'll pull you up fine. I didn't even change my prop from the 24 pitch 4 blade that is only 1 or 2 mph slower than my fastest 3 blade.

We use my Eluder for skiing, kneeboarding, and tubing. I have had no trouble pulling one on skis with 3 in the boat. Pulls good with the 200 Merc and a 23 prop.

We ski behind my Predictor. We tried wakeboarding and although we could get easily enough, there really isn't enough wake to do anything. I would like a ski pole and a rear ladder for easier boarding, though.

Skied, wake board and tubed all the time with my starflite for years, A ski pole is a must, with out it you'll be draging the line thru the water all the time. With the pole too, you won't be pulling the stern of the boat sideways either. I could barely move the starflite at 275 lbs cutting hard on a single ski. I've always said,"you can ski behind a speed boat but you can't speed with a ski boat!"

done all of the above, putting a ski pole on the back this year, so hopefully better, wakeboarding isnt bad, not as good as my buddies wakeboard boat, but enough to get some air and have some fun, also if you were really into it could experiment with some air bags, or fat chicks to up the wake pretty quick. I find with the back seat loaded up the wake is better than some others ive been on. As far as skiing, the wake on my enticer is pretty great for a non-ski specific boat, with the old eye hooks i could pull the boat all around though, so hoping the pole helps with that.

The Tri Mate I had was great for skiing with a ski pole. Flatest wake I've been on and couldnt pull the boat around. It did have a slight bounce when pulling kneeboarders.

I've skied and tubed behind all of my Mates. Even the 150 on the 2000BR pops me right out. I think the Starliner will ski the best of all of them due to the absence of a pad and 2* less dead rise at the transom. Like everyone else said...you gotta have a pylon. My 2000BR with the 225ProXS and 21P would dang near get me airborne out of the hole.

My only advice is if you're going to tube, go for the hydraulic steering...you might not need it, but your wife will appreciate it.

My Trimate III with the 225 Pro XS is the ultimate

This has a ton of room, torque like crazy. It will pull anybody on 1 ski with 4 or 5 other men in the boat. The Pro XS sips fuel. Low 70s with the ski prop so it is fast enough. :)

I'm looking to prolly pull a few chicks this year on a tube behind my predictor. I have the ski pole, however I removed the eyelets on the top deck near the transom because the pressure from pulling was cracking around the washer. I've never pulled anything but the previous owner obviously did.
So I machined some stainless washers bigger than the surface that was cracking. So as of now my ski pole is only used to help with my boat cover.
Anyone have problems with motor height and the rope/ski pole? what about pulling a tube from the transom eyes with one of those y adapter deals with the pulley?5fe5d85e.jpg

When the rope is laying in the water it falls to one side of the engine or the other but once there's some tension on it like when I'm hanging on waiting for it to pull me up on skis it is over the engine cover. With the tube its the same thing. The engine is big but the ski pole is high and since the rope is long its not at a very steep angle.

I have slalom skied off of many boats, but few could compare to the soft wake of a Checkmate O/B. The Pulsare and the Entertainer were my favorites followed by the Starliner. Unfortunately, the soft wake doesn’t provide much lift for wakeboarding.
The ZT is nice to ski off of, but provides a steeper wake than my O/B boats (to be expected with 24* dead rise and twice the weight). The up side is that it is better for wake boarding.
Tubing is fun off of any boat, because tubing is all about the boat operator and how long the rider feels like hanging on!

You should NEVER pull a tube with the ski pylon.
It is a sure way to cause stress cracks in the deck. I always use a Y adapter and hook to the transom eyes when pulling a tube.

The only thing we have done with are convincor is tube behind it. It would kinda be hard to pull a skier up out of the water with it.

I always used a Y rope set up from my transom eyelets on my jet, but no pulley. Ski rope is tied stationary at the Y, and a small float right after the Y.

And as HD says my jet was great for slalom course and making cuts across the wake.

You mind as well leave the tube on the beach if your going to use a harness. Wheres the fun when your line is being dragged thru the wake. That is if your lucky to clear the wake! Pulled everyone and everything with the skipole even a double decker houseboat sideways in the wind.

We use the Concincor for skiing, tubing and wakeboarding. Pulls a skier up no problem and makes a nice wake for the wakeboard. It's a bit slow on U turns though, probably better for the poor kids on the tube.
