My best memories of my open bows are when there's 2-4 well endowed women up front and I'm enjoying the chop...........:surf: Been there done that and want to do it again!! :bigthumb:

added one more for you up top.

yes, i contacted him for pictures, but he was not willing to send more. that thing is tempting.... but i want a starflite or pulsare, mainly a pulsare. i hope the extra 3 feet are worth the long search!

The Pulse 185/186 is a nice boat, but no faster than a 21' Pulsare or Starflight because it weighs as much. And only rated for 175 hp. So your search for a 21' is a good one.
Did I show you my buddies 1993 21' Starflight already? The white with red and black stripes? Much newer 225 efi motor? Metal flake in the red stripe? I think he wants $11,000 and is located here in SW Michigan. I think the motor was a 2002 or 2003. Prettiest Starflight I've ever seen. He wants to sell it and get a bow-rider, now that he's married with children...........

What are the main differences between these two hulls? They look very similar. Thanks. Rick

VERY different hulls. The Starflight was replaced by the Pulsare in 1994. Funny thing is, the Pulsare has a very basic standard no frills padded V design with 4 lifting strakes and a flat transom. The Starflight has a notched transom and a ventilated running surface with multiple speed 'designs' from bow to stern! In other words, the newer Pulsare has an older standard design, while the older Starflight had what is now standard on some of the newer fast hulls!
You have to get underneath both to know what I'm talking about. I'm hoping Coop remembers why the change from a more elaborate hull design in '93 back to a more standard hull design for the new hull in '94. My guess is that they found no real speed advantages in the Starflight bottom, and went back to a standard bottom in the Pulsare because of easier lay-up.

Starflite vs Pulsare

JW,

Thanks. With the notched transom, theoretically speaking, should the Starflite be faster than the Pulsare with the same power, etc.? Is the Pulsare bottom similar to the Enchanter? Rick

The 2100 Pulsare bottom isn't actually quite 'standard'. The lifting strakes have a down-angle to them as compared to a standard go-fast padded V bottom. Overall though, it's pretty straightforward.

As far as the notch adding free setback, that is true, BUT you have to run the 2100 Pulsare with a jack plate anyway since it doesn't have a standard engine mount area. So after you add your standard jack plate to the Pulsare 2100, then you're close to equal the built-in setback of the notched Starflight. The Starflight needs less of a jack plate compared to the 2100 to achieve the same setback, BUT, the 2100 has a much beefier transom so you can add enough setback to match what you end up with on the Starflight.

Comparing the Starflight and 2100, the old saying 'the more things change the more they remain the same' kinda fits................

So the same thing could be said of the starliner hull compared to the pulsare BR?

OK - it looks like I'm officially in the market for a descent starliner. I'd like at least a 200 hp on it. Pretty flexible on price (everyone wants a good deal) - I'd rather pay a little more for a good boat (or car or bike or or or ) because in my experience you pay more in the end when you try to force a deal.

Keep an eye out for me MI guys! That one in seattle is still taunting me, but tack on the $1500 in shipping (plus a $500 trip to see it first), and it's not such a deal anymore - and eats up alot of time.

A Starliner will be hard to find. Back in that day, closed bow ruled like 10 to 1. It wasn't until later the style preference reversed to open bow for family boats according to my buddy SCT.........................

starliner

im not sure it sold ,but it in the cmate ads pics in ebay &3rd party ads 87 starliner w/ merc 200 7k obo looks very nice n clean ! st.louis area rtlmohd seller

Thanks Z - I talked to rusty about the boat, and he sent me a bunch of good pics. The boat is about 10x nicer looking in those high res pics than the 2 in his S+F listing. But - uh... well, it just didn't work out.

That one in seatle probably ends up being an OK deal with shipping. Alot of time and hassle though to get that one.

Well, there's that niec maroon one in MN with the 225 efi... wait, that one sold!!! (sorry)

I think Rusty's boat is still for sale. I looks nice. Are you dead set on a BR?
