We usually boat on the Hardydam, but yesterday we went to look at a seasonal campground in grand haven. Thought about trying that out for the year. Needless to say it was a "getto" campground!!!. I should have known being so cheap. We always head over to grand haven at least once in the summer, and Torch Lake for sure to. i grew up in greenville :sssh:

Try Muskegan lake

Muskegan lake is great spot there has to be some nice camp grounds over there. We boat there about every weekend stay at fishermans landing. Its not the greatest but all we need it for is a shower we are on the water all day. There is a nice bay to hang out in with beach and peir. Plus its not that far to Grand Haven if you wanna go after ice cream or drinks. The ramp at fishermans is great in and out no problem were as in Grand Haven they get packed.

Only one gathering place I know of, the sand bar on the soutern side of Gull Lake.
Otherwise, the party is on my lake when everyone show's up :rof:

JDN, if you are looking for a nice campground, have a look in Coopersville. Go up US31 from spring lake until you get to Nunica. Turn right on Leonard st. Follow this road for about 6 miles until you see Oriole Drive, turn right. Go down to the end and you will see Conestoga camp ground on your right. It overlooks the Grand River. I believe it has a ramp.

I just called on that camp ground last weekend, we are going to look at it this weekend for a seasonal spot. is it pretty nice?? how far is that by water to get to grand haven?

The campground used to be owned by my wife's grandparents. They have done a bunch of improvements to it since then. I have not been out there since they completed the renovation. By water you are looking at about 10-15 miles to the US 131 bridge. If you hang a left at the bridge it will take you into spring lake. Nice calm water, great for water sports. From the bridge its about 3 miles to the sea wall down town and another mile out to lake MI. The bad part is most of it is no-wake.

I am in Grand Haven almost every weekend & travel grand river always,Have been to that campground to visit friends.Nice cruising to Lake Michigan -follow buoys for sure.Spring lake is RIGHT @ bridge & almost NEVER smooth-lots of traffic. But has HANKY PANKY BAY-PARTY all the time.Spring lake is all NO WAKE for boats over 25 ft. Traverse city & torch lake & hardy dam & various other lakes throughout summer.Look me up or let me know I can show you river & short cuts that are not no wake.

Thanks, we checked out that campground last weekend. Kinda hard to see much with all the snow! Did look at the grand river out in front of the campground, pretty narrow. I really like HardyDam but thought about maybe trying that area this year. Went to Torch Lake last summer for the first time, and didnt want to leave. Very nice up there...i just found i went thru alot more fuel then i usually do, because there is so much water to cover. Id like to check out Torch on a holiday weekend. We went on a thursday last year and it was pretty dead. Never been to hanky panky yet!! heard thats fun.:thumb:

If I can get up there this summer (debating on bring the boat) we will need to hook up. Grand Haven is where I grew up. Folks still live there. ( they own the sea way party store). Great place to grow up.
