What is it?

I'm having flashbacks. I think its a Checkmate, if I remember right, down at the Offshore plant, was a rarely used TWIN outboard Enforcer hull mold. It stands out because it was a hull that had some damage to the bottom,(cracks and such) it was such a rarely used mold that they just repaired each boat instead of fixing the mold. I never got to see the deck, but the ONE hull that I remember working on was Red and White. It stands out cause it was before we got the boat turning rig down there, we had to all pitch in and flip it.
 
Other than the transom, it does look like the Enforcer hull.

Perhaps it's one of the rare Enforcer O/B hulls.

That might be a fairly rare bird.

Check out the front deck, the light, cleat and vent are almost identical.

Same deal with the windshield and the details on the gunwales.

Found a Donzi registry, Never found one that looked even close to this boat
It looks like a Check or a D@^% good copy
 
It sure does look like a CHECKMATE. I can not say for sure, but Coop could be right. I think that with the bigger deck hatch and the smaller deck hatch that that boat could be and looks longer than an ENFORCER and could be an old OB 25. Any thoughts on that SCT or COOP????? :surf: :surf: :D :D
 
The guy got back to me with the HIN.

But it appears he has typos in the one he provided me.

He says that the HIN is OHK and the end is Y821 which doesn't make sense.

I emailed him back and asked him to double check it.

OHK doesn't appear in the registered manufacturers listing. Me thinks it might be CHK for Checkmate.
 
the hins can be very hard to read on older boats especially if it has been painted or repaired

that boat with twin 300s would be something else!! looks like a good project boat
 
I seam to remember a CONVINCER OB that Bill Combs and Bill Downard had me tapping on in 1983-84. I remember that motor well for some reason. Alan
 
Yea, if its an 82 it might be a Convincer. I just checked the '82 Brochure and the hull cut looks the same, with a different motor well. Maybe it was changed quickly and forgotten. I wish I had all the molds from checkmate that, that has happened to.

Have a look at the blue Convincor O/B prototype in the back of the '82 catalogue.

The splash well is way deeper and the bow rails wrap around on the front, instead of termininating into the deck like this guy's boat does.

This boat is either rare, or altered me thinks.
 
This is not the ebay-boat. The nose is different and
it has two hatches at the long deck.
I thing it is a 28 ft boat.

I've exchanged a few emails with the lister.

I asked him if the first three letters might be CHK instead of OHK and he double checked and apparantly they are indeed CHK according to him.

However, he insists the last three digits are 821. The last four digits he gave me first, was Y821 which is also confusing as the Y doesn't line up with any manufacturing month.

The complete HIN that the lister gave me also contains 13 characters so I don't think its right. But according to him it does start with CHK which is Mate's code.

He has now put the HIN on the listing and it now has 12 characters.

Here it is.....

CHK18807Y821

I don't know what the ending corrosponds to though.

Well, its a 1982 Checkmate, time to call Mike. Back in 82 the year was listed as the 10th and 11th characters in the HIN
 
so more than likely its a 1982 model year boat built in late 1981 seeing that the last diget is a 1
 
Well, perhaps it's an '82 Convincor Outboard and the splashwell on the production models ended up being slightly different. I believe the Enforcers weren't built until a few years later.

This could very well be a pretty rare boat.
