Hey gang,

I'm glad you found the new open boating forum down here. I figured y'all might appreciate a general boating forum where you can discuss all your other water toys. And it seems like many of you are always buying and selling! So this forum just might come in handy.

So here is my question. We are more or less a Checkmate related message board. Our focus is sorta narrow, just one brand for the most part. Out of the big boating forums, which is your favorite? I picked the ones I think might be the most popular, if I missed one, you can always post it below.

for me, the great advantage of this forum is not so many members so you can easly read all the info. on all the others i'm a little lost in the info and members.

I had to go with scream and fly, I have been over there for a few years. Great group of people. And best of all its free. They are more of the small outboard and super fast group.
Great tech and fast answers.

I went with Scream too. Greg is one of the good guys of the internet. And there are also a few too many sites, that make you feel like you're watching an infomercial as they are constantly trying to sell you one of their shirts, stickers, wax, fridge magnets, coffee cups, and so on.....and so on......and so on......

I had to go with other. As you know I run an I/O so scream and fly is out.(even though it is a cool site) I feel hot boat is geared towards people who have tons of cash and really modified boats with wild paint jobs. Off Shore Only is good but I feel is another "hot boat" site. I have never seen/been to Speedwake. Will check it out after I leave here. My "other" vote goes to http://www.partyboating.com Lots of "everyday people" having fun on the water plus a lot of wild pics. (one of a cat flipping over and some of one catching on fire) You don't have to be a member but, it is free. Plus you can access all pics/threads. Look at it and let me know what you think. Ranked #18 top boating sites. We are #28 but, that is awesome for a brand loyal site.

Hats off to the head fanatic, Chris, who makes it all happen.

There is some excellent technical info over on www.donzi.net. Contrary to what you might think, these guys are really down to earth, and are willing to answer questions. Especially when it comes to I/O applications.

Riley,

I was thinking more about what general boating forums everyone likes. Meaning non brand specific. The reality is that our forum will probably always be fairly small, mainly due to the fact our scope is limited to just Mates.

I'm I/O also, but Scream and Fly is a great forum. I often go there and read, Besides, the smaller Checkmates seem to respond to the same tips whether you're clamp-on or fixed rudder.

My Favorite is the Speedwake forums. Jeff is very down to earth and a nice guy. I bought some of the Frenzy waxing stuff and a leak proof trim pump cap from him which upgraded my member privileges and the stuff is actually really good. I highly recommend the stuff! Cool way to upgrade. Helps him keep up the site while helping us get good stuff. Bandwidth is expensive especially when you get into photo and video uploads!

Used to Offshore Only but they're too commercial and kind of cut-throat at times but lots of content due to their size. I like their classifieds section though.

I agree that the Donzi site is quite friendly also. Good bunch of folks.

Lastly, I'm really glad Chris brought out this site. We needed something like this for just Checkmates. Thanks buddy!!!
