Who else has an Eluder?

Just wondering who else has and an Eluder out there and what set up you have, top speed? I haven't seen too many others around. I could also use some information on what the original fuel tank would look like and how big it is, I don't have the original tank but would like to get one as my tank is in the front right now killing my top end speed.
Thanks:cheers:

eluder

hey mine has the original aluminum in the back and it is 25 gal. i am running a tempest 25' prop with a bone stock 200merc efi and it has lots of bow lift. runs 70mph at about 5600 rpm. only downfall is boat doesnt ride well in rough water because nose is high, but it is fast.

I had mine up to 71.2 yesterday with the 220 efi 25 laser 2 prop, I'm happy with it when I'm by myself but could use more power when it's loaded with people, cooler, ski's , I am looking for one of the older 265 or 280 mercs, I usually carry lots of passengers so the extra power would be nice. I find the boat rides great in rough water compared to my old smaller avenger.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my Eluder right now. I'm interested in setups also, but for me it's kind of moot until I get an engine.

I'll get you some dimensions and a photo tomorrow night of my gas tank. It's sitting on my garage floor doing double duty as a sawhorse while I put my boat back together.

Here's the tank from my '79 Eluder

It is 32 inches wide, and here's a sketch showing the other dimensions

The bevel in the rear of the tank allows it to clear the splashwell. The rear of the tank mounts 8 inches in front of the transom (at the bottom). And this tank was manufactured by Aluminum Fabricated Products, Inc. in Perry, FL (of course that was 30 years ago, doubtful if they're still around). I'll give credit to whoever designed this installation, it's a perfect fit in the available space..
