Well as it stands now I will be getting a new motor very shortly. I won a 2000 YMAHA V-MAX 225 3.1 liter HPDI motor. Boy do i hope this isnt a scam I get very nervous spending that type of money, I payed through pay-pal so I am safer, as well as verified with my bank that id be safe. The motor it will replacing is a 1987 YAMAHA EXCEL 2.6 liter. What type of speed differnces ya think there will be , of course there will be milled heads, and reeds shortly to follow this spring . After and only after the other motor is gone (gf is sitting next ti me right now). Im looking to get to 80 this summer!!!!!! Maybe ill eventually catch ya ILLMATIC. Man I hope this goes through, wish me luck . :bigthumb: Feels like christmas here at my house. Aaron

Congrats!! Hope it turns out well! 225 horse is a fun horsepower to play with :cheers

its going to be fun setting up the new engine over the winter. i am sure you will be able to prop up big time.

Aaron,

Sent ya a PM asking about the 2.6L.....a few months ago. ;) I want Yamaha power for my Starflite!

Rob

You may not see much improvement on top end since the HP is pretty similar. But I bet you see close to double the fuel economy. The carbed and efi Yamahas made excellent power but they did it by being thirsty on the petrol.
I'm glad to see the Yammies catching on with the Checkmate crowd. I take it you found it Ebay? Be glad I didn't see it....I'd been bidding against you. :D

bad news

Hey Everyone,
This is Aaron girlfriend and I just wanted everyone to know that it was a scam. So, unfortunantley we did not get the motor. I am so glad that I did the research on this guy and everything before a payment was made. We would have been out big bucks.
Sorry, that we will not be selling the motor anytime soon.
Aaron is pretty upset. He really wanted it.
Rachelle :(

Sorry to hear that! Soooooo many scammers targeting Ebay now that I'm surprised they can stay in business.

When I won the bid for my Talon on Ebay, I was sent a bunch of E-mails by "Second Chance" and numerous others asking for payment by Credit card, etc. I almost fell for the trap. I was fortunate that the people selling the boat was the Rhode Island Police Dept. and I was able to deal with them directly. You have to be careful on Ebay and research everything you do before sending payment.

Ya I wasnt real happy, to say the least with not getting the motor. I will be looking for another one hopefully, I figured with the newer one being a 3.1 liter instead of 2.6 liter and a little help from RAY NEUDECKER OR BOB KOTTMAN I could of spun a 27p trophy instead of the 25p. I done see 260+ hores to be a problem out of the 31. liters. Another thought im thinking about is sending BOB or RAY my block on the 2.6 to have it built buy them instead of getting another. Ive never pulled a powerhead on these , how involved is it? Any suggestions guys? Need to be running 80+MPH how much HP will it take to get there? Thanks Aaron

not to sound too stupid here - but what exactly was the scam. i assume the motor didn't exist. i have never used ebay to buy anything. my wife has but it was all low dollar stuff.

Basically how it went the guy put in A 2000 VMAX YAMAHA on there with no pics , so i ask for pics he sent me 4 pics loooking like it was in a row of ather outbards as if it was at a dealership. I watched it for a few days then did the math and seen i would be home from work when it closed so i could get the last bid in.I bid the highest I could go with 30secs left to go without getting in to much trouble here at home . Then I sent the guy a email and asked if had i deas of shipping , I was then shocked i got an email had already got the shipping figured out and it was 300 dollers, sounded good so far. I told him I would would pay through PAYPAL and he then wanted me to go through SQUARE TRADE and that you get a "MONEY ORDER" , I wont do anything of this price without PAYPAL(ITS AS SAFE AS IT CAN GET ) not fool proof but nothing is. Well I guess the guy thinks hell land a fish every once in a while with the squae trade money order thing but not this one. SQUARETRADE is reputable but I will only use PAYPAL , I ask the guy to call me 5 times to no prevail only emails , me personaly I want to talk about how itll ship and etc. not just email. The guy did have zero bid history, but so did I at one time so I looked past that, I will not again thats for sure. For me its pay pal or nothing at least that way your covered by them as well as your bank. I hope this helps others, I relise its a lil long winded but reading this takes a lot shorter time then making 4000 dollers. :cheers Aaron

Ya id love to have a man to man talk with the guy for sure:pissed: . Im looking at all different options for more power I have got to get this boat to 80mph i know its possible im thinking of sending the power head off to have built.

I would say go for the PM, my calculations show that to hit 80 you are going to need 300hp on a starflite. What happens to your insurance if you go beyond 250hp? I know my boat is only rated for that much power. I would love to see a video of a starflite going 80+. -shane
