X Dimension

Does anyone know what it is or supposed to be on a 1997 Convincer 253

That sounds like a question for Kip or Mike from Checkmate. X-dimension can be played with by using spacers for the drives to increase or lower the X-dimension. Many manufacturers will use a high X-dimension for higher top end speeds but the props will blow out when trying to get out of the hole. It's a compromise...hole shot or top end...too bad you can't have both!!

There is often a misconception that the 'X' Dimension is the depth that the prop shaft is below the bottom of the hull. While this seems to be the way most describe it, it is actual not that way. The 'X' dimemsion is the distance measured between the bottom of the hull and the crankshaft centerline. The distance between the propshaft and the bottom of the hull is called the proshaft height. When you play around with drive spacers or shorty lowers, you are actually changing the propshaft height , not the 'X'.
I recently tried a -2 Imco lower on my 259 Convincor. While I picked up 3 mph on top end, the increased caviatation in mid range, loose feeling all around and difficulty getting on plane, didnt make me feel it was worth it. I suppose I could have tested with ther props, but I just didnt like the feel of it.
